Are top managers likely to be more effective if they have IT
experience? Why or why not?

Answer:

Yes, Top managers are the shareholders of the Company. Based from the discussions and
what I’ve learned it is important to have an organizational model in order to understand the
responsible person and in charge of the position in order to give this details to System
Analysts. One of the skills that top managers should have is IT experience because it must
understand the operation and the flow of the business using the high technology.

Top managers should actual adapt and innovate their plans and knowledge. IT experienced is
the key for having an advance system and organized data and information. After looking the
pyramid Organizational model based from the graphic, the TOP MANAGER is the highest
which mean, this position and role must be good in leadership in their own department such
as handling the inside and outside transactions. The IT topics that usually the top manager
knows how to take an action from the problems and issue. It is difficult if the top manager
doesn’t know the IT systems.

Therefore, the top manager is responsible for the entire organization. They will be served as
the role model of the employees in short. Management is a process and is how an
organization is administered so that it functions effectively and efficiently. The roles of a top
manager are planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and controlling. These roles needed
in IT system. The managerial skills fall into three basic categories: technical, human relations
and conceptual skills according to BC Open textbooks.
