No. 51447 AV-K21M2. AV-K21T2 AV-2131EE SAFETY PRECAUTIONS The design of this product contains special hardware, many circuits and components specially for safely purposes. For Continued protection, no changes should be made tothe onginal esign unless authorized in wring. by the manufacturer Replacement parts must be identical to those used in the original crcuts. Sente shaud be petomed by quails pesanrel only. 2. Aterations ofthe design or cicuity of the products should nat be made. Any design aterations or dations wil void. the ‘manufacturer's warranty ané wil further reve the manufacturer of responsibility for personal injury or property damage resulting thereon, 3. Many electrical and mechanical parts in the products have special safety-telated characteristics. These characteristics are ‘alten not evident from visual mspection nor can the protection afforded by them necessarly be obtained by using replacement ‘Components rated for higher voltage, waltage, ete. Replacement paris which have these. special ‘safely characteristics are identifed in the parts ist of Service manual. Electtical ‘components having such features are identified by shading fon the schematics and by (A\) on the parts list in Service Manual. The use of a substiute replacement which does not have the same safety characterises as the recommended replacement part shown in the parts list of Service manual may cause shock. fire, or other hazards 4. Don't short between the LIVE side ground and ISOLATED, (NEUTRAL) side ground or EARTH side ground when repairing. ‘Some modes power circuit is partly different in the GND. The difference of the GND is shown by the LIVE -(L) side GND, the ISOLATED(NEUTRAL) » (41) side GND and EARTH : (@) side GND. Dont short between the LIVE side GND. and ISOLATED(NEUTRAL) side GND or EARTH side GNO and ever measure wih 3 measuring apparatus (osciloscope etc) the LIVE side GND and ISOLATEDINEUTRAL) side GND oF EARTH side GND al the same time If above note will not be Kept, 2 fuse or any parts willbe broken 5. If any repair has been made to the chassis, i is recommended thal the B81 'seting should be checked or adjusted (See ADJUSTMENT OF 81 POWER SUPPLY) 16. The high voltage appted to the picture tube must conform with that specified in Service manual Excessive high volage can cause an increase In XRay emission, arcing and possible Component damage, therefore operation under excessive high voltage concitons should be kept fo @ minimum, or should be Prevented. If severe arcing occurs, remove the AC power Immediately and determine the cause by visual inepection (incorrect installation, cracked or metted high voltage hamess, poor seldering, eto) To mantain the proper minimum level of Soft X-Ray emission, components in the high voltage circuitry including the picture tube must be the exact replacements ftteratves approved by the manufacturer of tre complete product 7. Dono check high voltage by drawing an ar. Use a high voltage meter or a high votage probe wih a VIVM. Discharge the Picture tube before attempting meter connection, by connecting 8 clip lead fo the ground frame and connecting the other end of the lead through a 10KG) 2W resistor othe anode button 8. When service is required, observe the riginal lead cress. Extra Precaution should be given fo assure correct lead dress in the high voltage crcull area, Where @ short ercult has occurred those components that incicate evidence of overheating should be replaced. Always use the manufacturers replacement components. 9. Isolation Check (Safety for Electrical Shock Hazard) [Ate reassembling the product always perform an isolation check on the exposed metal pats of the cabinel (antenna terminals, videoiaudio nput and output terminals. Control knobs, metal cabinet, screwneads. earphone jack, control shafts, etc to be sure the product is safe fo operate wihout danger of electrical shock, (1) Dielectric Strength Test ‘he isolation between the AC primary cxcult and all metal parts ‘exposed tothe user, particularly any exposed metal pat having a feturm path to the chassis should withstand a voltage of SCOOV [AC (rms fora period of one second. Using 2 "Leakage Current Tester, measure the leakage current from each exposed metal part of the cabinet, particularly any exposed metal part raving a retum path to ihe chassis, to'@ known good earth ground (water pipe, etc) Any leakage current must not exceed OSA AC (ems) However, in tropical area, this must not exceed 02mA AC (ems), ®@ Alternate Check Method Plug the AC line cord directly ino the AC outlet (do not use ane Isolation transformer during this check) Use an AC voltmeter hhaving 1000 ohms per volt or mote sensitivly in the folowing manner, Connect a 15004) *OW resistor paralleled by a 0.15, AAC-type capacitor between an exposed metal part and a known {good earth ground (water pipe. etc). Measure the AC votage foros the fesistor vith the AC voltmeter. Move the resistor Connection to each exposed metal part particulary any exposed metal part having a return path tothe chassis, and measure the ‘AC votage across the resistor. Now, reverse ine plugin the AC tute and repeat each measurement, Any voltage measured must nol exceed 0.75V AG ([Ems.). This corespands to 0 5mA. AC (rams.
