In-Class Activity - Design and Colors
Based on your assigned audience, decide how best to create a
professional (realistic) poster for “South Bend Church” (colors, fonts,
pictures, layout, etc.)
Text: “Come to South Bend Church”
Tagline (optional): “a place where you will find…”
Audiences:
1. Senior high school teens 5. Young married couples
2. Elementary age children 6. Junior high teens
3. Senior citizens 7. Single mothers
4. Single 40 year old men 8. College students
Instructor Notes:
1. The text of the tagline can be explicit or implied.
2. Assign a different audience to different groups of students. The students should tailor the poster
to that specific audience.
3. After the students are done, they should send the instructor a PDF of their poster.
4. The pdfs will be shown in class, and the rest of the students have to guess the audience.
5. I chose a church because it’s a place that can be marketed to different audiences (and because
of the ND environment) but other locations can work, too (clothing store, restaurant).
6. I have used this as an in‐class group activity, but it can also be assigned individually.
