in order to avoid an electrical short or accidental airbag deployment.
Note: At this time, no aftermarket antenna is available from Crutchfield.

Factory Radio Removal


1. Before proceeding, remove media from
factory unit if present. FIGURE 1 FIGURE 2

2. Set parking brake and disconnect negative


battery cable to prevent any electrical short. Air Vent Trimpanel
3. Starting at the right side of radio, pry out air (right of radio)
vent trimpanel at the top edge to release
clips and remove (Figures 1 & 2).

4. Pry out air vent trimpanel on the far left side


of dash (next to door) to release clips and
remove (Figure 3).

5. Remove two (2) Phillips screws from driver’s
knee panel. Pry around all edges to release
clips. Disconnect top harnesses and set Driver’s Knee Panel
panel on the floor (Figures 4-6).

Factory Radio Removal (continued)


6. Pry up dash panel above steering wheel to Phillips Screws
release clips. Disconnect wiring harnesses FIGURE 8 FIGURE 9 (1 of 2 shown)
and remove (Figure 7).

7. Starting at the top edge of air vent trimpanel


on left side of radio, pry out to release clips,
disconnect harnesses and remove (Figure 8).

8. Remove two (2) Phillips screws (one on each Air Vent Trimpanel Pocket/Trim
side) securing pocket/trim. Pull out trim to (left of radio)
release clips and remove (Figure 9).

9. Remove two (2) 10mm screws (one on each Display Panel


side) from display panel (Figure 10). FIGURE 10 FIGURE 11

10. Pull display panel to release clips. Disconnect


wiring harnesses and remove (Figure 11).

11. Remove four (4) 10mm screws from radio


bracket (two at the top and two at the bottom - 10mm Screws
Figures 12 & 13). (1 of 2 shown)

12. Pull out assembly to release clips. Disconnect


wiring harnesses and antenna to remove.

OEM Integration
This page addresses integrating aftermarket
accessories such as Bluetooth Adaptors,

Auxiliary Input Adaptors, iPod Adaptors,

etc., with a factory radio system.

1. Check instructions supplied with device


for location to connect device as radio
removal may not be necessary. If
necessary, remove factory radio following Rear View Factory Radio
instructions on the previous pages.

2. Follow instructions supplied with the


accessory device.

3. Connect optional adaptor to input as


shown.

4. IMPORTANT: Reconnect all wiring
harnesses including airbag, then
reconnect battery. Test operation of
adaptor and reassemble dash by
reversing disassembly steps.

Please read first
• Check to make sure the Crutchfield receiver wiring
Receiver Installation adaptor plugs into the vehicle receiver harness.
If the Crutchfield adaptor is incorrect, please call our
Technical Support Department at 1-800-955-9094.

! IMPORTANT
In most cases, the resistor included with the dash kit for this vehicle must be
soldered between two wires in the vehicle’s receiver harness in order to retain
climate controls. It will also retain navigation if equipped. See dash kit for
wiring details. Note: If using the PAC RP4.2-TY11 wiring interface, soldering
the resistor to the vehicle harness is not necessary.

A Standard DIN unit is shown. A Double-DIN receiver


may also be installed following these same steps.

1. Secure receiver to mounting bracket following instructions


supplied with the dash kit.

2. Make wiring connections following instructions supplied with


the receiver wiring adaptor.
Receiver Assembly
3. Hold receiver assembly near dash. Make the following
connections (if applicable) and check that they are secure:
 receiver wiring adaptor or interface
 antenna lead (using adaptor if necessary)
 Bluetooth microphone

 RCA cables
 climate control harnesses
 airbag harnesses
 power outlet harnesses
 other accessory devices

4. Secure assembly to dash with screws previously removed,


then reconnect battery and test operation of all the following
functions (if applicable):
 receiver power
 AM/FM reception
 sound from all speakers
 Bluetooth operations

 other accessory devices

Center Dash Speaker • Instructions show factory size speakers or speakers
with adaptor brackets only. Cutting or fabrication (not
shown) will be required for other speaker sizes.

1. Pry up speaker grille from rear edge to


remove clips. Lift speaker/grille assembly
and disconnect wiring harness to remove FIGURE 1
(Figure 1).

2. Remove two (2) Phillips screws securing


speaker and remove from grille (Figure 2).

3. Connect speaker wiring adaptor of


replacement speaker to vehicle speaker Speaker Grille
harness. Secure new speaker to grille.

4. Reinstall speaker/grille assembly.

5. Test speaker operation.

No speaker wiring adaptor is available at this time from

splice wires in order to install an aftermarket speaker.

No speaker adaptor bracket is available at this time for the


tweeter location. A mounting bracket must be fabricated in
order to install an aftermarket speaker.
“Sail” Panel Screw Cover
It is possible that the replacement speakers do not have
screws supplied. It may be necessary to acquire mounting
hardware.

1. Pry off “sail” panel. Disconnect wiring harness to


remove (Figure 1). Note: If only replacing tweeters,

2. Pry out screw cover behind door release and
remove one (1) Phillips screw (Figures 2 & 3).

3. Remove one (1) Phillips screw in door pull cup and


remove cup (Figure 4).

4. Pry up power options switch panel to release clips.


Disconnect wiring harnesses and remove panel
(Figure 5).

5. Pry out sides and bottom of door panel to release


clips. Lift panel, hold out to disconnect light
harness and remove panel (Figure 6).

6a. Tweeter Removal & Installation:
 Release two (2) plastic clips to remove tweeter FIGURE 7 FIGURE 9
(Figure 7).
 Fabricate a speaker mounting bracket and
secure new speaker to bracket. Standard Speaker

 Make wiring connections following instructions
on page 11. Return to this page to complete Clip
installation. (1 of 2)
 Secure speaker/bracket assembly to “sail”
panel.

6b. Woofer Removal & Installation- Rivet


 Drill out three (3) rivets securing speaker with a (1 of 3 shown)
11/64” bit. Pull out speaker, disconnect and
remove (Figures 8 & 9).
 Secure adaptor bracket to location.
 Test fit speaker in location. Note: If mounting
holes don’t line up, mark new holes. Remove
speaker and drill holes with a 1/8” bit. FIGURE 8
 Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement
speaker to vehicle speaker harness.
 Secure speaker to adaptor bracket.
! CAUTION:
7. Test speaker operation and reassemble door panel
Rivets Always be careful when drilling or cutting in a vehicle. WEAR
by reversing disassembly steps. EYE PROTECTION. Be aware of things such as wiring,
windows, fuel lines and safety devices. Check depth and
location to avoid damage to vehicle appearance.

Door Pull Cup
It is possible that the replacement speakers do not have
screws supplied. It may be necessary to acquire mounting
hardware.

Screw Cover
1. Pry out screw cover behind door release and
remove one (1) Phillips screw (Figure 1).

2. Remove one (1) Phillips screw in door pull cup


and remove cup (Figure 2).

3. Pry up power options switch panel,


disconnect wiring harness and remove panel
(Figure 3). FIGURE 3

4. Pry around sides and bottom of door panel to


release clips. Lift panel, disconnect tweeter
harness (if equipped) and remove panel Power Options Switch Panel
(Figure 4).

5a. Tweeter Removal & Installation:
 Pull back plastic clips and pry out tweeter to FIGURE 5 FIGURE 6
remove (Figure 5).
 Fabricate a speaker mounting bracket and secure
speaker to bracket.
 Make wiring connections following instructions on
page 11. Return to this page to complete
installation. Rivets
 Secure speaker/bracket assembly to location.

5b. Woofer Removal & Installation: Clip


 Drill out three (3) rivets securing speaker with a (1 of 2)
11/64” bit. Pull out speaker, disconnect and JBL Speaker
remove (Figures 6 & 7).
 Secure speaker adaptor bracket to location.
 Test fit speaker in location. Note: If mounting
holes don’t line up, mark new mounting holes. FIGURE 7
Remove speaker and drill holes with a 1/8” bit. Rivet
 Connect speaker wiring adaptor of replacement
speaker to vehicle speaker harness.

 Secure speaker to adaptor bracket.

6. Test speaker operation and reassemble door panel by


reversing disassembly steps.
Standard Speaker

Wire Splicing Guide These methods can be used to make wiring connections if no receiver or speaker wiring adaptor is available.
Wire color information (if available) can be found on the next page.
