Term Project

Project Guidelines: The objective of this project, is to analyze and apply OB concepts in a real
organization. You will be divided into groups of four members. Each group will choose an
organization of their choice and submit it to the class representative by June 2nd. In choosing
your organization, you are welcome to use your friend/family networks. Your group’s task will
be to use concepts that we have studied from the course to identify, analyze, and develop a plan
for resolving a key problem that your chosen organization is facing. After you have selected your
preferred organization, you will be required to visit/contact the selected organization and collect
data using interviews/surveys/observations in order to identify the problem. Keep in mind that it
must not be a problem that has existed in the past and has been already solved by the
organization.

Report Guidelines: At the end of your project, you will be required to submit a report that will
answer the following questions:
 What is the nature of the problem, and what are the likely causes based on OB concepts?
 How can OB concepts be applied and extended to solve the problem?
 What specific action steps should the organization take to solve the problem?
 What are the potential barriers and obstacles to following your recommendations?
 What are the risks and possible unintended consequences of following your
recommendations?
The report should be double-spaced in 12-point Times New Roman font with 1” margins around.
The minimum length is 15 pages and the maximum length is 20 pages. You should include a one-
page executive summary before the introduction of your report which will include a summary of
what your report is about. Throughout your report, you can also use specific references to topics
that we have discussed during lectures. At the end of the term, each group will be required to
present their project to the rest of the class. This project accounts for 20% of your final grade.
