Has anybody analyzed 'Wahrlich dieser ist gottes
sohn gewesen' from Bachs Matthew Passion in
depth?
i was comparing the Richter account with the Gardiner one.
Gardiner rushes it through like any of the other chorus bits in the
passion. Richter on the other hand recognises this 2 bar phrase for
the grand chorale that it actually is. He spreads it out for a good 30
seconds. And there you notice the immensity of it all, a canon in the
beginning, the three imitative sequences in the end, and the 7+
cadences that occupy that space. I was just wondering if somebody
like schweitzer ever analysed it. Because i feel they could do a much
better job than i could

Nope. I dont study music. But i was comparing the Richter
