Catalog Description Main structural elements of aircraft structures. Loads on the aircraft. V-N
diagrams. Energy methods. Structural analysis of thin-walled open section beams.
Structural analysis of thin-walled closed section beams. Torque box. Structural
analysis of aircraft sub-structures (rib, frame, etc). Elastic stability: Buckling of
columns and plates.
Course Learning 1. Gain knowledge of modern aerospace materials and selection for various aircraft

2. Use engineering science tools such as advanced mathematics, stress analysis
3. Perform stress and deformation analysis on common structural forms found on
aerospace structures
4. Design simple aircraft structures to support mechanical loads
