Part 1

Cat ownership is something that many Americans know about and have come to learn about
since the start of the pandemic.

During times of recession dog and cat ownership almost always go up. Many believe that it is
because of needed mental health boost during troubling times.

A first-time cat owner shares her experiences introducing cats to one another, “Probably
introducing a new cat to the household, it just took a little bit of adjusting and patience, and I’m
not the most patient person. So, I wanted them to bond really quickly and, it happened
eventually, it was probably a solid week… I wanted them to you know like, fall in love instantly
and they didn’t but it’s okay, the like each other now.”

Part 2
I definitely have to get used to the new writing style because I have never written like that. I am
an engineering major and the amount of formal writing we do is extraordinary limited. We barely
communicate in full sentences in writing. A good number of us don’t even speak English that
well so that should serve as some type of indicator of how important language is in that field. I
do have a side of me however that would like to improve my writing skills because I think if I
improved I would actually enjoy writing quite a bit.
