Setting a course on the map: Click once on the steer tool.

Place the cursor on the map, as you move the


cursor around you see that “Course over Ground” and “True Wind Angle” in the steer window changes.
When desired “COG” or “TWA” are displayed left click to lock the values. A line in the polar diagram
(see picture on the right) shows the angle the boat will be sailing on the new course. Predicted boat speed
(SOG) and Velocity Made Good (VMG=a value for up and downwind sailing) is shown.

To begin with, you can either single click to active the steer tool or double-click to see additional
navigation data at the mouse pointer on-screen. This additional info will include a visual
representation of the boat polar known as the “Polar Butterfly”. The colour of the Butterfly also
indicates starboard/port tack. Click again to set the chosen course and the course will be kept in the
steer tab. To issue this command to the boat click on “Send Command”.
