Q1. Define the terms up-time and down-time with regard to an IT Infrastructure. Provide 3
examples of social-networking websites' or e-commerce websites with their up-time and down-
time.  

Uptime is a word used in the computer industry to determine the amount of time a computer or
IT system is operating. Uptime is a statistic that measures the proportion of time that hardware, a
computer network, or a device is up and running. Uptime is sometimes expressed in quartiles,
such as "five 9s," which refers to a system that is up and running 99.999 percent of the time.
Uptime is frequently used as a measure of operating system or network dependability, indicating
how long a system can go without crashing or requiring repair.

Periods when a system is offline are referred to as downtime. The percentage of time that a
system is unavailable or down is called unavailability. System faults (such as a crash) and
communications problems are the most typical causes of unexpected outages (commonly known
as network outage).
