With the Cp value being less than 2.0 and the Cpk value being less than 1.33, this means

that the process in place for pours of Route 44 does not remain in control by both range of pours

and consistency of pours. When a customer goes to get this drink, it is likely that they will be

poured way too much or too little that will be dissatisfactory to the production of the experience.

Furthermore, the experience that one customer gets have 45 ounces will be different from the

experience the next customer gets at 43.5 ounces. What must be done is a process needs to be

created to not only center the pours to closer to 44 ounces, but the process cannot vary far away

from 44 ounces. When you have this information, what you do as a manager is come up with a

system that makes the pours of your drinks stay close to 44 ounces both with accuracy and

consistency. One way that this could be done is a special glass be created that these drinks get

poured into. These glasses have a decorative line in them at the 44-ounce mark that the drinks get

filled to. Some drinks will be slightly over, and some slightly under. Having this special glass

will enable those pouring the drinks to be able to measure the amount they are pouring into the

drinks they are serving. If a different glass is not desirable for the brand, this glass can be used as

a measure glass and the pourer pours the Route 44 drink from this measuring glass into a

standard glass. The idea of what the manager needs to do with the information of the Cp and Cpk

values is to come up with ideas like the one provided that can increase the Cp and Cpk levels to

the acceptable levels of 2.0 and 1.33 respectively.
