Solar energy and electric vehicle power system

The world is moving towards renewable energy to avoid the use of fossil fuels and non-
renewable energy [1]. An increasing awareness of the emissions of air pollutants and
Greenhouse gases from cars and trucks, people are looking for different options for renewable
energy sources [2]. Solar energy is best solution for clean energy source [3]. Solar energy has
many advantages over fossil-based coal and oil due to reduce carbon emissions, clean air, and
can generate again within our lifetimes [4]. In the present scenario of the world, due to the
rapid development of scientific inventions the consumption of electricity has been increased.
Therefore, researchers have focused on developing solar energy technologies to obtain a high-
efficiency level with minimum investment cost and less environmental pollution [4].
In another hand electric vehicles (EV) are one of the important ways to solve the
sustainability issue. The sustainability of EV depends on the source of charging. All kinds of
EV charging system, i.e., plug-in electric vehicle (PEV), hybrid electric vehicle (HEV), or
plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), have lower emissions if the energy supplied for
charging is based on clean fuel, such as renewable sources.. The renewable energy source i.e.,
PV, wind, tidal, geothermal, or hydro, are excellent options to power electric vehicles.
However the PV source is admirable source to charge EV over other sources because PV
source is noise free, low cost, PV module does not required maintaince and EV can store the
surplus generated solar energy.
[5,6,7]. Many researcher have been working on design and development of electric vehicles
by using solar energy to reduce the greenhouse effect and clean environment. Excess of
electrical vehicles also cause the distribution network problem like network congestion,
unbalance voltage in phase system and off nominal voltage which may led to negative impact
on power quality issue [8]. Therefore the grid connected EV with solar energy is the area of
interest on the research.
