Max. Mark Weight=25% Submission Date: May 27, 2021

Group 1

⇒ Specifics
 You are provided with topographic map on scale of 1:5000 in the format A4
 It is supposed to connect points A and B with a link road having average annual daily
traffic volume of 650-840 vehicles at the mid-year of design periods
 For cross-section the road can have two lane and two way undivided roadways.
Sufficient super-elevation has to be provided at curvature. Choice of an attachment or
pavement type is not needed.
 For R< 100m a widening of interior edge of the curvature is necessary. Curvature
sequences receive intermediate straight lines with the prescribed minimum length.
 Bridge design is not needed if there is any. But they should be shown symbolically and
cross the river right angled.
 Intersection with the existing road should takes place right angled and its plan has to be
drawn with appropriate scale with a 10m radii for junction edge rounding(assume that
the existing road also have the same cross-section with the proposed road AB)
⇒ Demanded performances
 Explanatory report:- the report should include constructional solution, comments
explanations and as well computational proofs
 Layout plan:- optimum route has to be selected considering different alternatives and
the route has to be shown on the topographic map with thin full lines. This route has to
be drawn with the necessary detailing on an A3 paper size.
 Horizontal and Vertical alignment:- the natural longitudinal profile together with the
finished grade level has to be drawn with the necessary detailing on an A3 paper size.
The elevation of each station and all main points (PC, PT, PVI….etc.) of a horizontal and
vertical alignment must be registered.
 Cross-section:- cross-sections have to be drawn at each main station (possibly 100m)
and a mass-haul diagram has to be prepared for scheduling the earth work of the
project.
