Abstract:

In this paper we go on to discuss about the local holomorphic extension of

any general CR functions to the both sided neighbourhood of the origin on
the truncated Bochner’s tube manifold Tr(X) = X+iBr(0), where the set X ⊂
Rm is smooth submanifold of Rm.

1 Introduction and Preliminaries

Holomorphic extension of the CR function defined over some domain has always been
a central part of research in CR geometry over the course of time. A classical theorem of
Bochner [6] states that a holomorphic function on a tube M=T(X) = X+iRm in Cm over some
domain X ⊂ Rm extends as a holomorphic function to the convex hull ch(M) = ch(X)+iRm of
the tube. A CR version of this extension theorem was proved by Kazlow in [9] and Boivin
and Dwilewicz in [10] (see also [8, 11]). These results provide the holomorphic extension
of the CR function defined on some open connected smooth submanifold of Rm, to the
almost convex hull of the tube defined as, ach(M) = ach(X)+iRm, where the set, ach(X) =
int(ch(X)) U X.

Nevertheless, there is another part of the extension phenomena is to give an improved

geometric condition which guaranties the local two-sided extension of the given CR function
around a point, which is already known to be true for the Pseudoconcave CR manifold, that
is a manifold for which the Levi form has atleast one negative eigenvalue in the
characteristic conormal direction. There are numerous results related to this direction,
which was proved in [1], [2], [3]. A microlocal version of the Bochner’s result was also

proved in [4] for the case of the tube over a real-analytic generic CR submanifold of Rm.
In this present article we go on to discuss the microlocal situation for the case of a tube
over a more general smooth generic CR submanifold of Rm

2 Main Results

For the microlocal situation, to get a Holomorphic extension on the two-sided

neighbourhood of a given point p, we may first look at the one-sided extension. We will
show that under certain convexity assumption, the one-sided extension holds true for the
microlocal case. We need this couple of results to prove our theorem, as follows:

Lemma 2.1 (see [5]): On hypersurface, at a given point, local holomorphic extendibility of
CR functions to one side is equivalent to holomorphic extendibility to the same side if the
holomorphic function defined on the opposite side.

Corollary 2.2 (see [5]): On a real analytic hypersurface M, at a given point p, continuous
CR function extend holomorphically to one side if and only if M does not obtain any local
complex hypersurface passing through p.

Theorem 2.3: (see [7]): Let N be a submanifold of Rn and T(N) be the tube over N. If there
exists a CR submanifold M of T(N) such that dimCRM = dimCRT(N) then for each p0 in M
there is a neighbourhood U of Ꙥ(p0) in N which is contained in an affine space L with dimRL
= dimRM−dimCRM, where Ꙥ: Cn → Rn, Ꙥ (z) = Re(z), is the natural projection. Conversely,
if N is locally around Ꙥ(p0) contained in an affine space L, then there is a CR submanifold
M of Ꙥ(N) through p0 as above.

Corollary 2.4: (see [7]): Let N be a submanifold of Rn and T(N) be the tube over N. Then
T(N) is not minimal at p0 in T(N) if and only if there is a neighbourhood of Ꙥ(p0) in N that
is contained in an affine subspace L of Rn, where dimRL < n.

Now we state one of our result with the convexity assumption to obtain a local one-sided
holomorphic extension of a given CR function.

Theorem 2.5: for a real curve γ in Rn is such that for every non-empty open neighbourhood
U of origin in γ the int(ch(U)) is non-empty, then every continuous CR function defined on
the local truncated tube Tr(U∩γ) in Cn, extends holomorphically to the one-sided
neighbourhood of the origin.

Proof: This follows from corollary 2.4 and corollary 2.2, since the convexity assumption
implies that there is no such complex hypersurface passing through the origin locally.
