You must have discussed the characteristics of successful entrepreneurs in Chapter 1,
what do you think, what characteristics did you see in Jacobs?

Answer:
Jacobs has the following characteristics of successful entrepreneurs.

• Passion for the Business

• Product/customer focus
• Execution intelligence.

How have these features contributed to the success of app?

Answer:
The above features do contribute to the success of app in following ways.
Passion for the Business: As Jacobs find a gap in technology because he was finding it
difficult to get the device that gives the whole experience of training and running together. So,
he gets the idea of bringing the whole experience together which will revolutionize the way of
running or exercise and will positively influence the people to use it.
Product/customer focus: Jacobs refused to do any advertising or marketing of his idea of app
or web based. In his mind, the best way to build RunKeeper was through creating an exemplary
user experience. That shows how product and customer focused he was.
Execution Intelligence: Jacobs has the best Execution Intelligence as he has developed the
business model, put together a new venture team 2 were app developers and 3 were website
developers, raising money by saving the money from his job, managing finance, leading and
motivating employees.

Do you think the basic idea of the app really helps its customers and adds value to the
company?

Answer:
Yes, the basic idea of the app really helps its customers as customers are getting the whole
experience of training and running together under one roof and are adding value to the
company, proof of adding value to the company is that, as of mid-2010, 54 percent of the
people who bought the premium service from mid-2008 until the present day are still active
RunKeeper users.

List a few candidates who you think are the ideal clients for the application.

Answer:
Few candidates who are ideal clients for the application are,

• Gym going persons

• Health conscious people
• Runners
• Fat people who are trying to get fit with proper tracking and precision.
