STEEL Goenka
STEEL Goenka
The billet shearing machine is used to cut the billets into desirable
length and cross- section which later pushed into the furnace. The
cross-section of the billet is 100mm*100mm and the length is
either 2m or 3m depending upon the diameter of the bar which is
going to be made.
BILLET PUSHER
Billet Pusher push the billets into the furnace. It is driven by
motors.
FURNACE
Furnace is used to heat the raw material(billet) into the required
temperature. It has six temperature zone. Pre-heating zone has
temperature around 700C, heating zone has temperature around
1000C and Re-heating zone must have temperature around 1100-
1150C. Billet temperature must be around 1050C, more than
recrystallization temperature of steel as it is hot rolling process.
ROUGHING STAND R1
After heating the Billets into the suitable temperature, it is ejected
from furnace then send it to the roughing stand R1 with the help
of conveyor rollers. In the Roughing Stand, billet is rolled between
the rollers. These Rollers are driven by high torque motors. There
is a reducing box which decreases the rpm and increase the
torque. There is some rough structure on the surface of roller
which removes the oxide layers formed on the surface of the hot
billets.
ROUGHING STAND R2 & R3
Roughing stand R2 & R3 has the same function as R1. The hot
billets pass through the heavy rollers driven by high torque AC
motors resulting the elongation of the billets into long cylindrical
structure called bar. But it is not the final shape. Also there is
continues supply of water in all the roughing stands.
