A pentagon is a type of polygon that has 5 sides and 5 angles.

There are many different types of

polygons, but the one thing they all have in common is they are made of 5 straight lines and have 5
angles and corners. They can be any size with the same size sides or all different sizes as long as the
sides all connect to make a closed shape. Look at the illustration for some examples of what a pentagon
can look like.
Pentagons can be regular or irregular and convex or concave. A regular pentagon is one with all equal
sides and angles. Its interior angles are 108 degrees and its exterior angles are 72 degrees. An irregular
pentagon is a shape that does not have equal sides and/or angles and therefore do not have specified
angles.

Properties: A regular pentagon has:

 Interior Angles of 108°

 Exterior Angles of 72°
 Area of approximately 1.7204774 × s2 (where, s = side length)

There are two types of pentagon on the basis of sides and angles:

1. Regular pentagon
2. Irregular pentagon

Regular pentagon: A pentagon which has all five sides equal in length and eventually, all the five
angles are equal in measure, is known as regular pentagon. Each interior angle of a regular pentagon is
1080.

Irregular pentagon: An irregular pentagon is a pentagon which does not have all sides equal. Also, it
does not have all angles equal.
