GROUP PROJECT
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
COURSE CODE: FIN401
ACADEMIC SESSION: 2020

INTRODUCTION

FIN401 is designed to provide students with strong fundamentals of corporate finance as well as an
opportunity to apply relevant principles to practical and managerial decisions. This group project aims
to bridge the theoretical concepts of corporate finance to practicality.

SCENARIO

You are required to CHOOSE public listed companies from similar industry as your study case.
Please refer to the BURSA MALAYSIA Listed companies .FIRST COME FIRST SERVE.

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Search for fundamental information of the companies. The information should include
background (e,g., core activities,) of the selected companies.

2. Upon selection of the two companies, each group is required to prepare a comprehensive
analysis (i.e., calculate, report, interpret, explain and summarize) on financial performance of
the companies.

3. Specifically, each group is required to construct a trend analysis (3years) and

a comparative analysis (2 companies) of the selected companies based on their liquidity,
activity, profitability, leverage and market position

4. CONCLUSION -Based on the trend analysia and comparative analysis .

5. Each group consists of 4 TO 5 members only.

REMARKS

You are free to exercise your artistic and creative abilities while developing for your analysis on the
companies’ financial performance. However, all discussions should be consistent to every concepts of
corporate finance.

PROJECT OUTPUT

A. REPORT

1. Title of Report: “ANALYSIS OF CORPORATE FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE: A TREND

AND COMPARATIVE STUDY OF Company 1, Company 2”
2. Font 11, Times New Roman, 1.5 spacing, Justified.
3. A margin of 1.25 cm should be allowed on both the left and the right side of the page.
4. Typing should be on one side of each page only.
5. Pages are to be numbered consecutively.
6. Please use the template given for your “cover page” and abide by the color code of your
group.
7. Any report which is deviated from the given formats will be penalized (3 marks will be
deduced).
8. There is no specification on number of pages for your report. Nonetheless, quality of the report
should be prioritized instead of the quantity of pages.
9. Any work (or report) which is found to be totally plagiarized (merely copy and paste) from any
source will be marked as “no submission”.
10. Assignment submitted late without prior application for an extension or medical evidence will
not be accepted. Extensions are granted only in exceptional cases.

B. PRESENTATION

2. The presentation should cover the process of your companies’ selection starting from
information searching until the conclusion to the analysis on financial performance of the
companies.
3. Each group should present and discuss your project within 10 minutes.
4. Date of your presentation will be determined by lecturer in class.
