SKIN

O The skin is the largest organ of the body, with a total area of about 20 square feet.

HAIR

O An accessory organ of the skin made of columns of tightly pack dead keratinocytes found
in most region of the body. It also insulate the body by trapping warm air around skin.

NAILS

O Are accessory organs of the skins made of sheets of hardened keratinocytes and found on
the distal ends of the fingers and toes.

SUDOriferous Glands

O Exocrine glands found in the dermis of the skin and commonly known as sweat glands.

2 Major Types

- Eccrine sweat glands - Apocrine sweat glands

SEBACEOUS GLANDS

O Exocrine glands found in the dermis on the skin that produce an oily secretion known as
sebum.

CERUMINOUS GLANDS

O Special exocrine glands found only in the dermis of the ear canals.
