KINDS OF SCULPTURE

1.) Relief- attached to a surface or background. Grows out flat, two dimensional background, and its
projection into three dimensional space is relatively shallow. The back of the relief sculpture is
not meant to be seen, the entire design can be understood from a frontal view.

2.) Free- standing or full round- sculpture that can be seen from all sides. It inhibits three-
dimensional space in the same way that living things do. Sculpture in the round cannot be
appreciated from only a single view point but must be circled and explore.

3.) Kinetic and mobiles- are moving three dimensional figures, best example are those which are
suspended on air. It is where the parts or a certain part are/ is movable.

4.) Linear sculpture- emphasizes construction with thin, tubular items such as a wire or neon
tubing.

5.) Assemblage Sculpture- a kind of sculpture where in the elements present are just assemble from
things that are found in the surrounding.
