INTERNET GENERATION
In this fast-paced world, everything happens so fast. The weekend lunches with realties seem to
happen fewer and people stopped making occasional phone calls because of the many activities
they have to do every day.
The emergence of the Internet contributed to the fast-pace of this new age. It´s also
responsible for creating a huge gap between the old and Young generations. More people, usually
of the younger set, educated, single, either studying or at the prime of their careers, are
using the internet for communicating, messaging and social networking. Young people are the
best equipped to deal with the internet´s varied tools because computer courses are given in
schools, even at the primary levels. The internet has also overtaken the popularity of traditional
media such as television, radio and newspapers.
However, most grand parents and their grandchildren long for better relationships with each
other. Teaching old people the use of the new technologies is one of the solutions to bridge the
communication gap between the younger and older generation and to offer them a means through
which they can constantly keep in touch and to make it possible for the old people to have a voice
in this internet-driven society.
