Displays the current switch information. Information includes:
* sysName, sysLocation, sysContact
* MAC address
* current date-time and system uptime
* device operating mode (i.e. bridging, iprouting, ipmulticast, ipqos)
* operating environment (temperature, fan and power supply status)
* NV Image information (primary/secondary image date/time, size, version)
* NV Configuration information (primary/secondary configuration data/time, size
, version)
* 802.1p Information
* PACE Configuration Information
* System serial # and reworks indicators
* Software platform
* System ID
* Power supply and fan status.

2.2. show version


Display the current operating version:
* current running version of the software configuration
* current running version of the software image
*

2.3. show memory


Displays the current system system memory informations:
* size of FLASH, DRAM, packet RAM
* malloc and heap information
* code and data space information

2.5. config time TIME


Press <SPACE> to continue or <Q> to quit:
Change the current time to the new time given by the user.
Note that time will be saved to the real-time clock right away, no save config c
ommand is needed.

2.6. config devicemode [ bridging | iprouting ]


Change the operating mode of the switch. If the current operating mode is diffe
rent than the new operating mode, the switch will save the configuration and reb
oot. A confirmation message is asked before reboot takes place. The default op
erating mode is iprouting.

2.7. Unconfig switch {all}


This command performs the following:
* Warn and prompt the user for confirmation
* Save information in NV storage to indicate to the software to use a blank or
default configuration when the switch reboot
* reboot the switch
If the ALL argument is not specified, then the switch will use default configur
ation except user accounts and passwords are preserved. If the ALL argument is
specified, then all parameters (including the user account) will be default.

2.8. ping {continuous} { size NUMBER} IPADDRESS


Generate ICMP Ech o request to an IP host. If no optional arguments are specifi
ed, then one ICMP echo request of size X is generated.

2.9. Traceroute IPADDRESS


Trace the IP route toward a destination IP host. Each router along the way is
displayed.

Clears all statistical counters in the switch and ports

3. Configuration/Image Commands
3.1. save {config} {primary|s econdary}
Saves the current configuration of the switch to NVRAM. User may specify which
configurati on area to be used. Primary configuration area is the default.

3.2. use config {primary|secondary| imported}


Configure the switch to use the primary, secondary or imported configu ration wh
en the switch comes up after the next reboot. Default is primary.

3.3 . use image {primary|secondary}


Configure the switch to use either the primary or secondary images in NVRAM when
the swi tch comes up after the next reboot. Def ault is primary.

3.4. download image IPADDRESS FILENAME {PRIMARY | SECONDARY}


B egin to download a switch image using TFTP. If no optional parameter is speci
fied, then the image i s saved in the primary store.

3.5. download config IPADDRESS FILENAME


Begin to download a "compressed ASCII" configuration file using TFTP. This wil
l be the "imported" configurat ion file.

3.6. upload config


3.7. show config
Display the current switch configuration in CLI format to the st dio. A user ca
n capture the output and store it as a file.

4. Syslog Commands
4.1. show log config
Display the syslog configuration. Information includes:
* Remote syslog serve r address
* Remote log facility levels

4.2. show l og {PRIORITY} {SUBSYSTEM}


Display the log messages. The messages are displayed in reverse order (most re
cent messages first) and pause between screens (24 line s). The messages will b
e filtered if priority and sub-system are specified. If priority is not specif
ied, LOG_ERROR is assumed. If sub-system is not specified, then all the sub- sy
stems will be reported.

4.3. clear log


Empty the system log database. The first entry in the dat abase is a message in
dicated that the database is clear by user.

4.4. config log display {PRIORITY} {SUBSYSTEM}


Log messages can be display on the user's term inal (or telnet session) in real-
time. This command change the filtering capabi lity when the log messages are d
isplayed. Only messages at or above the specifi ed priority level are displayed
. If the sub-system is not specified, then all the sub-subsystems wi ll be repo
rted. Need to explicitly perform the "enable log display" command to turn on r
eal-time reporting. If the command is executed on the console shell, then it wi
ll not be r eset automatically even when the user logout of the console.

4.5. config syslog IPADDRESS FACILITY {PRIORITY} {SUBSYSTEM}


Change the syslog server's IPADDRESS. Only one syslog server is supported. FAC
ILITY is "local0"-"local7". Priority and sub-system specify the f iltering of t
he log messages before sending to the remote syslog server. Need to explicitly
perform the "enable syslog" command to turn on remote loggin.

4.6. enable/disable log display
Enable or disable real-time logging to the shell. D efault is disable for telne
t users. Default is what the previous user setting for the console user.

4.7. enable/disabl e syslog


To enable or disable logging to the remote syslog d eamon. Default is disable.

5. NMS/SNMP Commands
5.1. show management
Display network management re lated configuration ans statistic information. In
cludes:
* Enable/Disable stat es for telnet/SNMP/WEB
* SNMP community strings
* Authorized SNMP station list
* SNMP Trap receiv er list (IP address and community string)
* Login statistics (# success, # failed, # timeout, etc.)

5.2. show session


Display the current console/telnet/SNMP sessi ons. Each session includes the fo
llowing Information:
* Session number
* Sess ion type [console/telnet]
* User name
* User location [Console / IPADDRESS]
* Login time

5.3. clear session [NUMBER]


Close a user session.

5.4. Logout | Quit


Logs out the session of a current user for CLI or Telnet. Telnet will close th
e TCP Telnet session.

5.5. enable telnet


5.6. disa ble telnet
Enable or disable telnet sessions to the switch. All active telnet s essions wi
ll be closed when the disable command is executed. Default is enable.

5.7. enable snmp access


5.8. disable snmp access
Enable or disable SNMP access to the switch. Note that SNMP configuration (e.g.
community strings) are not changed by the "disable snmp access" command. Defau
lt is enable.

5.9. enable snmp trap

Enable or disable SNMP trap generation from the switch.

5.11. config snmp add IPADDRESS


5.12. config snmp delete [IPADDRESS | all]
Add or remove SNMP management station(s) to the access list. If all is specifie
d in the delete command, then all the configured IP addresses are removed and th
e switch can be managed from any station. Up to 6 IPADDRESS can be specified.
5.13. config snmp add trapreceiver IPADDRESS {community STRING}
5.14. config snmp delete trapreceiver [IPADDRESS | all]
The first command adds a trap receiver to the trap receiver list. Each receiver

can have a different community string. If no community STRING is specified, th
en "private" is used in the trap message. If an IPADDRESS is already on the lis
t, then the new community string replaces the old one. Up to 6 IPADDRESS can be
specified.

The second command removed a trap receiver to the trap receiver list. If all is
specified, then all the receivers wil be removed.

5.15. config snmp community [read | readwrite] STRING


Specifies the community string for SNMP access. The default community string is
"public" for read access and "private" for read-write access. STRING is enclos
ed by double quote characters. Max 32 characters.

5.16. config snmp syscontact STRING


Specifies the system contact STRING. Default is blank. Max 32 characters.

5.17. config snmp sysname STRING


Specifies the system name STRING. Default is Summit X. Max 32 characters.

5.18. config snmp syslocation STRING


Specifies the system location STRING. Default is blank. Max 32 characters.

5.19. unconfig management


Reset all the management related parameters (defined in this section of CLI) to
the factory default value. (e.g. reset SNMP community string, clear secured SNM
P IP address list, delete all trap receivers, etc.)

5.20 enable/disable idletimeouts


Specifies whether or not telnet and serial console sessions will
be closed after 20 minutes of inactivity.

6. User Account Commands


6.1. show account
This command is available only to "admin" level users. Display the user account
information for all the users. Includes:
* User name
* Access level
* Number of successful/failed login attempts
* Number of active sessions

6.2. create account [admin | user] USERNAME {PASSWORD}


This command is available only to "admin" level users. Create an user account w
ith USERNAME and access level of "admin" or "user". Note that USERNAME size mus
t be between 1-32 characters and PASSWORD size must be between 0-16 characters.
If no password is given, then CLI prompts the user twice to enter the password.
No confirmation is asked if password is entered as an argument.

6.3. delete account USERNAME


This command is available only to "admin" level users. Remove a user from the u
ser database. The command will fail if the user attempts to remove the last "ad
min" level us er.

6.4. config account USERNAME {PASSWORD}


Change the password for the user. "Admin" level user can change the password fo
r any user but "user" level user can only change his own password.
If no password is given, then CLI prompts the user twice to enter the password.
No confirmation is asked if password is entered as an argument.

7. Port Commands
7.1. show port PORTLIST config
Display the port configuration.

7.2. show port PORTLIST stats


Display the real-time port statistics. The display is updated every X seconds.

7.3. show port PORTLIST errors


Display the real-ti me error statistics. The display is updated every X seconds
.

7.4. show port PORTLIST collisions


D isplay the real-time collision statistics. The display is u pdated every X se
conds.

7.5. show port PORTLIST packet


Display the real-time historigram of packet statisitcs. The display is updated
every X seconds.

7.6. Config port PORTLIST auto on


Enables auto-negotiation for that particular port type. 802.3u for 10/1 00 or 80
2.3z for Gigabit.

7.7. config port PORTLIST auto off {speed [10 | 100]} duplex [half | full]
Change the configuration of a group of ports. The user can specify auto-negotia
tion or not. If auto-negotiat ion is used, then both the port speed and duplex
is negotiated. Otherwise, the user needs to specify those parameters.

7.8. enable port PORTLIST


7.9. disable port PORTLIST
Enable or disable port. Note that the link is always enabled for diagnostic pu
rpose.

Define a load-sharing group of ports. The ports specified in PORTLIST are grou
p to the logical (and physical) port PORT. For example, enable sharing 9 group
ing 9-12 c reates a logical port 9 that represents port 9, 10, 11 and 12. All p
hysical port commands still add ress the actual physical port but all other comm
and uses logical port representa tion.

7.12. Enable/disable smartredundancy [PORTLIST]


Enabled or disable the s martredundancy feature on Summit 2 redundant Gigabit po
rt. Default is enabled. When the smart redundancy feature is enabled, the swi
tch will always use the pr imary link when the primary link is available. If th
e feature is disabled, the switch will change the active link only when the cur
rent active link becomes inoperable.

8. PACE/80 2.1Q Commands


8.1. enable pace
8.2. disable pace
Enable or disable PACE recognit ion.

8.5. config dot1q ethertype ETHERTYPE


Change the IEEE 802.1Q ETHERTYPE to a new value. The default is 0x8100. Exampl
e, co nfig dot1q ethertype 0x8888.

9. Protocol Commands
9.1. show protocol {PROTOCOL | all}
Default is al l. Display protocol related information.

10. VLAN Commands


10.1. show vlan {VL AN | all}
Default is all. Display VLAN related information for one or more VLAN s.
* VLAN name
* VLAN port configuration (tagged/untagged)
* VLAN ID (Both internal and external)
* IEEE 802.1Q EtherType
* Protocol information.
* IP address
* STPD information.

10.2. create vlan VLAN

Create or remote a VLAN.

10.4. config vlan VLAN [add | delete] PORTLIST {tagged | untagged}


Add or remove ports in a VLAN. If user did not specify the tagging type, then
untagged is assumed. Note that no protocol decoding is p erformed if a port is
tagged.

10.5. config vlan VLAN tag VLANID


Chang e the VLAN ID for this VLAN. A VLAN ID is automatically assigned to a new
ly created VLAN (start fro m 4095), the user can change it to any valid value be
tween 1 -4095 that is not used by another VLAN.

10.6. config vlan VLAN protocol [PROTOCOL | any]


Configure a protocol-based VLAN. If "any" is specified, then it comes the defa
ult VLAN wh en all other protocol based VLAN filtering is processed. If "none"
is specified, then it will not p erform any protocol filtering and only tagged f
rames are acc epted.

10.7. config vlan VLAN ipaddress IPADDRESS {MASK}


Configure an IPADDRESS for the VLAN. Netmask can optionally be specified. If t
he netmask is not specified, then the nature mask of the IPADDRESS is used.

10.8. unconfig vlan VLAN ipaddress

11. Spanning Tree Commands

11.1. show stpd {STPD | all}


Default is all. Display STPD configuration and runtime information for one or m
ode STPDs.
* STPD name, bridge ID
* STPD configuration (hellotime, forwarddelay, maxage, bridgepriority)
* STPD configuration

11.2. show stpd STPD port PORTLIST


Display port specific spanning tree information.
* STPD port configuration (portcost, portpriority, static)
* STPD state (root bridge, etc)
* STPD port state (forwarding, blocking, etc.)

11.3. create stpd STPD


Create a new spanning tree domain with no VLAN. STP is disabled by default.

11.4. delete stpd STPD


Create or remove a STPD. Newly create STPD has the following default parameters

he association between the STPD and VLAN are removed but both are still instanti

Change the hello time of the STPD. Range 1-10.

11.8. config stpd STPD forwarddelay NUMBER


Change the forward delay of the STPD. Range 4-30.

11.9. config stpd STPD maxage NUMBER


Change the MAX age timer of the STPD. Range 6-40.

Enable or disable the STP protocol in the STPD.

11.14. enable/disable stpd port [PORTLIST]


Enable or disable the STP protocol to run on PORTLIST. BPDUs are generated and
processed if STP protocol is enabled on a port. Otherwise, no BPDU is generated
by the switch, all incoming BPDUs are dropped and the port is in STP forwarding
state.

11.15. Unconfig stpd {STPD | all}


Reset the STP paramters to factory default.
12. FDB Commands

Default is all. Display all the FDB entries or a subset of the entries. Includ

Remove the dynamically learned entries from the MAC FDB table. Perm anent and s
tatic MAC entries are not affected.

Add or delete a permanent MAC FDB entry. If more than more port is associated
with a permanent MAC entry, then packet will be mul ticast to multiple destinati

13. Basic IP Commands


13.1. show ip config {vlan [VLAN | all]}
If no VLAN information is specified, then global IP configuration is displayed.
Otherwise, specific VLAN(s) information will be displayed. Conf iguration inf
ormation includes:
* IP address/netmask/etc.
* IP forwarding information
* BOOTP con figuration
* VLAN name and VLANID
* ICMP configuration (Global)
* IRDP confi guration (Global)

13.2. show ip stats {vlan [VLAN | all]}


Note that this command only shows statis tics pf the CPU handled packets, not al
l packets are handled by the CPU. Display the following information:
* inpackets, outpackets, etc.
* ICMP stat. (Global/Interface)
* IRDP stat. (Global)

13.3. show ipfdb {IPADDRESS | vlan VLAN | a ll }


Default is all. Display IPFDB table content.
* IP address
* Next hop router MAC address (Next hop gateway/host IP address?)
* IP FDB hash index and entry number
* MAC FDB hash index and entry number
* Egress VLAN name, VLAN ID and port number
* Flags

ted. When new IP interfaces are added, the interface is defa ult to have ipforw
arding disabled.

13.6. enable/disable ipforwarding broadcast {vlan VLAN | all}


En able or disable forwarding of IP broadcast traffic on an IP interface. If a
ll is specified, then all the configured IP interfaces are affec ted. If no opt
ional argument is provided, then "all" is assumed. Note that other IP related co
nfigu red is not affected. IP forwarding needs to be enabled also for this comm
and to take effect. When new IP interfaces are added, the interface is default
to hav e broadcast disabled.

13.7. enable/disable bootp vlan [VLAN | all]


Enable or disable generation/pro cessing of BOOTP packets on an IP interface.

13.8. Enable/d isable bootprelay


Enable or disable the BOOTP relat function on the router.

13.9. config bootprelay add IPADDRESS

13.10. config bootprelay delete [IPADDRESS | all]

14. IP ARP Commands

14.2. clear iparp [IPADDRESS | vlan VLAN | all]


Remove the dynamic entries in the IP ARP table. Permane nt IP ARP entries added
by the user are not affected.

14.3. config iparp add IPADDRESS MAC


Add an entry to the IP ARP table.
14.4. config iparp delete IPADDRESS
Add a permanent IP ARP entry to the system. Remove a permanent IP ARP entry fr
om the table. T he IPADDRESS is used to match the IP interface address to locat
e a suitable inte rface. The VLAN-ID is derived from the router interface.

15. IP Route Table Commands


15.1. show iproute vlan {VLAN | all | permanent }
Display the content of the IP routing table.

15.2. config iproute add default G ATEWAY {METRIC}


15.3. config iproute delete default GATEWAY
Add or remove a default gateway from the route table. A default gateway must b
e on a configured IP interface.

15.4. config iproute add IPADDRESS MASK GATEWAY METRIC

Add or remove a net or a host from the rou te table. A MASK of 255.255.255.255

Add or remove a net or a host to the route table. All traffic to that entry wil
l be dropped, no ICMP message will be generated.

15.8. Enable iproute sharing {DISTANCE}


15.9. Disable i proute sharing
When multiple routes to the same destination are available, load sharing can be
enabled to distribute the traffic to
multiple destination gatewa ys. A DISTANCE paramter is availabe to use the rout
es that are within a certain DISTANCE from the l owest cost route as load sharin
g routes. The load is distri buted by destination IP station based and is inver
se proportional to the metric. Default distance i s 0. The default is allow lo
ad sharing between the lowest cost routes only. Ex ample, even load will be sha
ring between route 1 and route 2, if DISTANCE=2, rou te_1_metric = 10, route_2_m
etric = 11, route_3_metric = 15.

16. ICMP Commands

16.1. enable/disable icmp redirects {vlan VLAN | all}


Enable or disable generation of ICMP Redirect messages o n one or more VLANs. I
f no optional argument is specified, all the IP interfaces are affected. Def au
lt is enable.

16.2. enable/disable icmp unreachables {vlan VLAN | all}


Enable or disable generation of ICMP unreachable messages on one or more VLANs.
If no optional argument i s specified, all the IP interfaces are affected. De

16.3. enab le/disable icmp useredirects


Enable or disable changing routing table informatio n when received a ICMP Redir
ect message. Default is disabled (NOT to use redirect messages).

Enable or disable the generation of ICMP Router Discovery Protocol (IRDP) adver
tisement messages on one or more VLANs. I f no optional argument is specified,
all the IP interfaces are affected. Defaul t is enable.

16.5. config irdp [multicast | broadcast]


Change the destination a ddress of the IRDP advertisement messages. Default is
broadcast.

16.6. config irdp MININTERVAL MAX INTERVAL LIFETIME PREFERENCE


Change the IRDP advertisement messages timers. Not e that all arguments need to
be specified. All time intervals are in second.

16.7. unconfig icmp


Change all the ICMP setting to the default values.

16.8. unconfig irdp


Change all the IRDP setting to the default values.

17. IP RIP Commands

17.3. enable/disable rip {vlan VLAN | all}


Enable or disable RIP on a IP interface. If no vlan is specified, then all is a
ssumed. When a IP interface is created, RIP is disabled by default. Note the w
hen the RIP interface is disabled, the parameters will not be reset to default a
utomatically.

17.4. Enable/disable rip aggregation


Enable or disable RIP from aggregating subnet i nformation on a RIPv2 interface.
Default is enabled.

17.5. enable/disable rip splithorizon


Enable or disable the split horizon algorithm for RIP. Default is enabled.

17.6. enable/disable rip poisonreve rse


Enable or disable the split horizon with poison reverse algorithm for RIP. Defa

Triggered updates are a mechanism for im mediately notifying a router's neighbor

Enable or disable filtering of static route. Default is enabled.

17.9. config rip updatetime {DELAY}


Ch ange the periodic RIP update timer. If no DELAY is specifiec, then the defau
lt 30 seconds will be u sed.

17.10. config rip routetimeout {DELAY}


Default is 180 seconds.

17.11. config rip garbagetime {DELAY}


Default is 120 seconds. (240?)

17.12. config rip txmode [none | v1only | v1comp | v2only] {vlan VLAN | all}
Change the RIP transmission mode for one or more IP interfaces. If not vlan is
specified, then all RIP interfaces are changed. Default is v1comp.
* none: Do not transmit any packet onto this interface
* v1only: Transmit V1 format packets to broadcast address
* v1comp: Transmit V2 format packets to broadcast address
* v2only: Transmit V2 format packets to multicast address

17.13. config rip rxmode [none | v1only | v2only | any] {vlan VLAN | all}
Change the RIP receive mode for one or more IP interfaces. If no vlan is specif
ied, then all RIP interfaces are changed. Default is ANY.
* none: Drop all received RIP packets.
* v1only: Accept only v1 packets. Strict broadcast, subnet mask 0, etc.
* v2only: Accept only v2 packets.
* ANY: Accept both v1 and v2 packets.

17.14. Unconfig rip {vlan VLAN | all}


Reset all the RIP parameters to the default vlan. It does not change the enable
/disable state of the RIP interface. Parameters include:
* split horizon, poison reverse, trigger update, export static
* update time, route time, garbage time
* txmode, rxmode
