1. As a professional to what extent do you feel that you should be aware of the
legal issues surrounding IT?
Answer:
A professional should have theoretical as well as practical knowledge.
He or she should be well aware about the Information Systems Ethics,
Acceptable Use Policies, Intellectual Property, Privacy, Copyright, etc.
However the changes in technology has brought new capabilities and the
creation of new norms, regulations and laws. A professional should be aware
about legal issues in the area of intellectual property and privacy.

2. Create a list of possible holders of data who may be storing your personal
data. Do you have a problem with large organizations selling your data? In
today’s society should we have such a thing as personal data (exception
banking and medical)?
Some of the possible holders are:
1. Google cloud storage system
2. Bank
3. Facebook
4. Email
5. Search Engines
6. iTunes
7. Playstore
Problems like being constantly tracked by online advertisers, allowing leaks of
personal data, skewing public discourse through amplification of fake news
strikes at the personal privacy, societal health and governance. Ethics
regarding authority over personal data should be created so that these data
are used for the benefit of society and nations.

3. Discuss the differences between Shareware, Freeware and open source


software.
Firmware are the type of software that is available for free.
Shareware however is free but costs for some of the services.
Open source software provides source code for reusability and modification
process.

4. As a first thought, identify and discuss some of the legal issues/problems


surrounding cloud computing.
Answer:
a. No data loss or corruption
b. Easy and instant access
c. Well protected data
