The Mona Lisa is a work by Leonardo da Vinci made in Florence Italy in 1503 and 1519. It
took Leonardo four years to paint, and the subject of his art was Francesco del Giaconda’s
wife. A woman sitting in front of a vast mountainous landscape with an enigmatic smile and
aura is portrayed in the Mona Lisa art. The "Mona Lisa" is probably the “most analyzed,
most romanticized, most satirized, most-appropriate painting in the world”, but it is also
obscure (Spalding & Nemos, 2001, pp. C3-4). A variety of claims were made to assign her a
more aristocratic or idealized identity. Leonardo's decision to retain the portrait intensified
the dilemma of recognition. It was included in the royal set and it may have been unknown
if history hadn't played an ace (Spalding & Nemos, 2001, pp. C3-4). The Louvre, a palace,
was converted into a public art museum by the Revolution (Spalding & Nemos, 2001, pp.
C3-4). She was both pleased and disturbed and became a devouring tempter (Spalding &
Nemos, 2001, pp. C3-4). Leonardo da Vinci first started drawing, in 1503 Mona Lisa and,
after he had put it away, took him four years to paint. The artisans officially took about
three years to complete the representation painted after 1503. Mona Lisa is said to have
been a spouse of the famous materials supplier from Florence, Francesco del Giocondo.
“Who was the lady in question?” (Mona Lisa’s many faces and phantasms, n.d.). Mona Lisa
was indeed a masked man who was probably a self-portrait and Leonardo's face himself;
the oddest suggestion (Mona Lisa’s many faces and phantasms, n.d.). The Mona Lisa is also
seen as a male in some copies (Mona Lisa’s many faces and phantasms, n.d.).
