AP Course: Letter to Teacher

Please understand that your feedback is precious to our English 3 AP/Dual Credit teacher team; it is
what truly helps us improve this course so that we may work to better prepare students for the AP
exam and—even more importantly—help students improve as readers, writers, communicators, and
life-long learners. Knowing this, please take a few minutes to reflect on your experience in this course.

To do so, open a new Google doc and write a letter to your teacher that includes your thoughts
about the following. Please know that you may add your thoughts about other aspects as well if you
like, and that your letter counts as a completion daily grade—so it should be a pretty easy 100!

 Considering the time and effort you had to devote to this course’s work, how respectful do you
feel our teacher team has been of YOUR time this year? Please briefly explain your answer.

 If you took our in-person AP English Language and Composition Exam on Wednesday, how
confident did you feel going into that AP exam?
OR
If you did not take our in-person AP English Language and Composition Exam on Wednesday,
how has your confidence toward your reading/writing/communication/life-long learning
abilities changed over the course of the year in English 3 AP/Dual Credit?

 What do you feel was the MOST valuable skill, assignment, experience, piece of advice, etc.
that this class provided you? Please briefly explain why.

 What do you feel was the LEAST valuable skill, assignment, experience, piece of advice, etc.
that this class provided you? Please briefly explain why.

 On what skill(s) or area(s) do you suggest that we as teachers focus MORE to help future
students not only prepare for the AP exam, but improve as readers, writers, communicators, and
life-long learners? Also, what kind of activities/assignments, if you have any in mind, do you
believe would help us do this? (If you don’t have any in mind, that’s OK! We’ll still consider
your advice and look into how we can put it into action.)

 On what skill(s) or area(s) do you suggest that we as teachers focus LESS to help future
students not only prepare for the AP exam, but improve as readers, writers, communicators, and
life-long learners? Please explain why you think so; in other words, please briefly note why
you did not find it valuable to work on such skills/areas.

 What about AP-style reading passages and AP-style multiple-choice questions were most
challenging for you, and what—if anything—can you recommend that we do as teachers to
help future students with these challenges?

 Which essay (synthesis, rhetorical analysis, or argument) was most challenging for you?
Again, what—if anything—can you recommend that we do as teachers to help future students
with this challenge?

 Considering your own experience, what one piece of advice would you give other students
who are preparing to take the AP Language and Composition Exam?

Mrs. Braddam, Mrs. Hindert, and Mrs. Mendoza are SO grateful for your thoughts. Please
know that they will not only be read, but deeply considered as we strive to improve the course!
