1. You are going to plan a day trip for a group in London. Create a “What’s on in London”
leaflet and find:
▪ a tour which lasts for half a day
▪ a colourful market
▪ two museums you could visit
▪ an exclusive shop to buy souvenirs

2. Are customer complaints a problem in the hospitality/hotel industry today? What do you think
are the best ways for managers to satisfy problematic clients and get their respect and loyalty?

3. Which tourism/travel sectors generate most jobs and money in your country? Sustain your
opinion with arguments and examples.

4. Choose a popular exotic destination and describe what features make it attractive to tourists.

5. What kind of package do you prefer: an all-inclusive or a tailored package? Why? What are
the advantages and disadvantages of these packages?

6. You work for the Austrian tour operator Europe Cultural Tours (ECT). Design a five-day
musical package tour in Austria. Give your tour a name and include these points
(accommodation, travel and all transfers, concerts, excursions, social activities).

7. You are an events manager. When catering for a large group, which is better - a formal dinner
or a buffet? Why? Is it better to prepare all the food in advance or to prepare some at the event?
(include a three-course lunch with a choice of three starters, three mains and three desserts).

8. Where in your country can visitors enjoy nature tourism most? Write about an exciting
adventure package and give information about outdoor activities, favourite locations, equipment,
typical costs.

9. Why do you think hoteliers need to refurbish (renovate) their properties regularly? Decide
what upgrades a hotel should make to justify the higher room rates.

10. What are the differences between niche and mass tourism? Choose a niche tourism product
and write a description of it for a promotional website.
