Activity objective and skills in focus:


To encourage students to analyse and evaluate change in the hierarchical structure when the business
grows. This activity will help the learners to review the topic of Organisation and Management
in IGCSE Business Studies.
Consider a scenario such as a sole trader setting up a small stall at a market growing to become a large
shop
Required:
Task: Explain how an organisation chart can change as a business grows with the help of Powerpoint
Presentation [5]

Task 2: Draw organisational charts to indicate the differences and change [5]

Outcome:
Write a report covering all the above-mentioned tasks.

4-5 marks A well-developed, structured and creative general explanation is given.


3-2 marks Developed general statement of organisational structure is given.
Important aspects mentioned in Task 1 maybe missing.
1 mark Simple statements regarding organizational structure is given.

Task 2:
4-5 marks Different aspects of the organisational structure are well-analysed and
evaluated that can be used to indicate the changes in structure. The
organisational structure is creative and well-described.
3-2 marks Aspects of organisational structure are identified but are not well-
developed and evaluated. The marketing strategy lacks creativity.
1 mark The aspects of the organisational structure are identified only.
0 mark No relevant response
