1)GEOPOLYMERIC BUILDING MATERIALS BY SYNERGETIC UTILISATION OF

INDUSTRIAL WASTES

ABSTRACT
Geopolymers, silico-aluminate materials formed through mimicking natural rock forming
process, are fast emerging as new class of greenbuilding construction materials . In the process
of geo-synthesis, silicon (SI) and aluminium(AI) atoms react to form molecules that are
chemically and structurally comparable to those binding natural rock and allows for novel
products synthesis that exibit the most ideal properties of rock-formation elements, ie
.,hardness, chemical stability and longevity

2)SIGNIFICANCE OF NANOTECHNOLOGY IN CONSTRUCTION ENGINNERING

Concrete, the most ubiquitious material in the world, is a nanostructured, multi-phase,

composite material that ages over time. It is composed of an amorphous phase ,nanometer to
micrometer size crystals ,and bound water. The amorphous phase, calcium-silicate-hydrate (C-
S-H) is the ‘’glue’’ that holds concrete together and is itself a nanomaterial

3)PRESTRESSED CONCRETE
Prestressed concrete is a method for overcoming the concrete’s natural weakness in tension. It
can be used to produce beams, floors or bridges with a longer span that is practical with
ordinary reinforced concrete. Prestressed tendons are used to provide a clamping load which
produces a compressive stress that offsets the tensile stress that the concrete compression
member would otherwise experience due to a bending load.
