Autonomous Driving System with Road Sign

Recognition using CNN

1 Critical Review
Research says most of the road accidents are happened due to not responding to
the traffic events instantly. Automated cars can resolve these types of accidents.
For this the work must be done to recognize the traffic sign by the self-driving
cars. This paper focuses on building such system that can be used to recognize
the real time traffic events and mainly road signs by using the convolutional-
neural-network. For this purpose, data-set of road signs of Belgium is used, and
the accuracy of this approach was 83.7
In this paper, authors successfully used the autonomous driving systems for the
detection and recognition of the road signs as well as calculating the distance of
road sign from the car. They also add the lane following car system and attach
all the systems with the carto make it autonomous and self-decision maker to
responds instantly to the traffic events. For the future work, they want to do
the same process with the larger data-set and try to build that system that will
be able to recognize the road sign when car is above 100 kilometer per hour.
Finally, they try to improve the distance recognition in real time.
