Our lives as ordinary citizens are influenced by many written and unwritten obligations and contracts.
From buying something to getting employed, from going to school to getting married, contracts are a
vital part of building relationships and completing daily transactions. At their very core, contracts are
relationships whereby two parties agree to work together and forge a connection that, if fostered well
and beneficial on both sides, can last years, so a contract is the visual representation of that
relationship. Because of these contracts, ordinary people are enjoying the prevention of conflicts and
the mitigation of risks, ensuring that the people involved are at peace because it is clear to them what
should be done and what shouldn't be done. From their very creation, obligations and contracts are by
nature relational and collaborative, building healthy communication and opening up collaboration
across the community, so basically, obligations and contracts are nothing more than an agreement, and
if there is an agreement, there is no chaos.

on the Law on Obligations and Contracts.

The basic knowledge I acquired from Law on Obligations and Contracts can be applied when I am
assessing my rights as a consumer, for example, when I ordered my favorite McBurger and handed the
cashier the money, I entered into a contract with the restaurant, I understood that as consideration for a
burger, I provided the invoice price. I communicated my acceptance of their posted offer to provide the
McBurger for its price by ordering from the cashier and providing money, and I am knowledgeable that
they should fulfill the terms of the contract by providing me with my food. In addition to this example,
as a freelance artist, I can also create contracts with my clients to have a healthier and safer transaction
with them. We can set agreements on the following terms of work, the scope of work, deadline,
limitations, and many more. Lastly, my basic knowledge of the Law on Obligations and Contracts also
gives me protection if our binding agreement is not honored by my client because I know what to do in
this type of scenario and avoid being aggrieved.
