IN THE REHABILITATION OF STROKE PATIENTS:

Abstract

Background: A person who has a stroke will experience various problems that
affect him and his family. Many of the impacts experienced by families as
caregivers for post-stroke patients are a result of patient dependence. Purpose:
This study aims to summarize the results of research on family experiences as
caregivers in the rehabilitation process of post-stroke patients. Methods: This
research method uses a literature review study, searches are carried out with
Google Scholar and PubMed databases through keywords then screening with
inclusion criteria in the form of studies conducted on families who are caregivers
of stroke patients, free full text, qualitative methods, Indonesian and English
speaking, published year range 2015-2019, then an assessment was carried out
using the JBI critical appraisal tools for Qualitative Study with a total of 8 items
to assess the quality of the selected articles. 9 articles that were reviewed have a
JBI score of 90-100%. Results: 327 articles were obtained according to keywords
and then screened according to the inclusion criteria and quality assessment of the
articles, resulting in 9 articles worthy of review. The 9 articles that were reviewed
resulted in 6 general aspects that have been summarized by researchers
representing all emerging themes, namely physical aspects, psychological aspects,
spiritual aspects, economic aspects, social aspects, family effort aspects. The
aspects that occur in the family as caregiver will also affect the recovery process
for post-stroke patients. Conclusion: There is a change in the family who is the
caregiver for post-stroke patients. It is hoped that the results of this literature
review can be a reference or provision related to families as caregivers.
