 Most students after their schooling take up studies in
Arts, Science, Engineering and management.
 Should they get a Job in the same field as they have
studied?
 Many don’t
 Even a mechanical engineer gets a job as a software
engineer and so there is no hard and fast rule.
 Is getting a job guaranty you a good career?
 No, getting a job is not = a great career
 Search for a Job!
 The most important thing to do is to choose the kind of Job
that you want to do. Any job will not do good as even
laborer, janitor are jobs.
 Best way to narrow down to the right Job is to look at your
ability, talent, gifts, strengths, your qualification, your
aptitude level and narrow down to a suitable job type.
 How to approach companies?
 Approaching companies is a skill that you need to develop.
It all starts from resume writing, the job search and the
Interview preparation.
 Companies hire people for different purposes and they
have different needs.
 Any organization has different levels of positions.
 Most important to understand is that all organizations
hire any candidate only if they are getting profited.
 Most often your requirement and corporate
requirement may not go hand in hand, so be patient
enough to understand the markets demand and also
analyze your suitable position.
 But, don't get into a wrong Job.
 One mans food is another mans poison – you need to
find your kind of job and someone's career preference
may not be suitable for you. So, please choose wisely.
 It is not about
getting the Job, it is
about the Work that
you are going to do
daily for the rest of
your months, years
and in your life.
 Getting any job
doesn't guaranty you
success. Find your
DREAM JOB!
 Write your resume by contacting senior people in the
Industry or by hiring resume services from experts.
 Work experience is the major section of any resume
and if you don’t have any previous experience then you
need to project your capabilities and your project
works that you have done.
 Resume need to be short and crisp but should convey a
good image about you and your experience.
 Do not copy cat from your friends, rather make your
resume a original piece.
 Find the best vehicle for Job search like the top job
sites and other online tools to leverage.
 Post your resume in job sites like Naukri.com,
monstor.com etc.
 Have your profile in linkedin.com, so that you can
contact people across different industries and
companies.
 Talk to Hr recruiters and placement agencies.
 Talk to senior people in the company that you want to
try.
 Research about the company – read their website, find
the key people of the company, know about the
products and services of the company, have a look at
their client list.
 Google the company name and try reading relevant
articles and web posts.
 Try contacting some people working in the company to
understand about working climate, culture etc.
 Send them an email asking for an appointment.
 Even if you don’t get a call, keep researching and look
out for similar companies.
 Most often Interviews are considered as question and
answer sessions. The employer asks and the candidate
answers the question. But there is more to it,
Interviews are nothing but finding the right fit for the
work.
 Easy way to win the Interview is to prove that you have
the right material for the work. If you are in an
Interview for a sales position, show case your talent in
sales. Remember, it is not how much you know, it is
how much you do and demonstrate.
 It is not about getting the Job, it is about your Career
that matters. So, always go for the long term.
 Be a Sprinter but at the same time be a marathoner!
