Tagish Lake isa large glacial-fed Lake in Northwestem Canada, The lake straddles the border of the Yukon, Territory and the Province of British Columbia and is about 100 km (60 miles) south of Whitehorse, the territory's Capital. The western boundary of the Yukon Territory borders the State of Alaska. INTRODUCTIO! Asaresult of some local publicity in May and June of | 1998, we were informed that a photograph of several UFOs, near Tagish Lake was taken some years back In July of 1998 an investigation led to the of the secondhand witness who was in possession of a slide duplicate of the image which was taken around 1970. A copy of the slide was made, the witness was interviewed anda preliminary analysis performed. ‘A cropped portion of the image is shown on the cover of this issue of Flying Saucer Review, and the entire image in Figure 2 (inside front cover). There are seven UFOs in the image. We know that there was a total of seven objects from witness testimony. This is important since UFO#T (the smallest object) is almost indistinguishable from bright reflections off the mountain bedrock. The UFOs in Figure lentification 2 are numbered | through 7. A closer look at UFOs #2, I seven objects ar and 4 is shown in Figure 5, re 4. (See inside and back cover.) ING DESCRIPTION AND STORY BACKGROUND. Two couples were doing some recreational boating on Tagish Lake in 1970 (approx.) and were travelling in two separate boats. We now have permission to reveal the es of the two men involved as Jim and George. George \was in his early 50s and Jim was in his mid 60s around that SIG time. Tt was about 10 am when they were travelling southbound on the lake. It was windy and the w biton the rough side. Jim ‘s boat was smaller than G and also had an open top. George and his wife were driving ima closed and larger boat. Because Jim had a smaller boat and wanted to stay out of the roughest water, he was travelling close to the shoreline, while George and his wife could afford to travel, out in the middle of the lake and were about Sto 8 kilometres, to miles) back. While travelling along the edge of the lake, Jim and his wife saw the seven strange glowing orbs as shown in the photograph. There are four closer objects and three more further up the mountainside, Jim estimated that they were 3 t04 feet in diameter. The UFOs moved about slowly for the estimated 15 minutes that they watched them as he and his wife travelled down the lake. The four closer objects eventually made their way up the mountain to join the other objects. ‘George was too far back to notice the object even have sight of Jim’s boat. His concentration was devoted to the rough water. Jim or his wife never mentioned and didn’t anything to George until the film was developed, about a week later. We can speculate that this may have been because of the fear ofridicule or disbe had the slide in hand. As far as George knows this was the only photo of the objects that Jim took. Jim used slide film and made a couple of side duplicates for George . George submitted one to the Weather Of who submitted it to the Department of National Defence in Ottawa About a year later George was curious to find out what the department found from their analysis so he asked the person at the Weather Office to look into it. The answer he got back was that that information was classified. That is until Jim PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION ANDANALYS The analysis performed here does not come fromFigure 1. Further analysis is warranted by experts in the UFO field, (On Sept 5, 1998 a field trip was undertaken to establish a more precise location of the sighting and the location of Jim when he took the photo, Aftersome effort the location, was found and a 1998 photograph (Figure 3, on inside front cover) was taken from the same spot using a camera with the same focal length lens as Jim used, ‘The UFO locations were drawn as red circles in this figure to facilitate analysis. ‘The island in the forefront enabled us to pinpoint the witness location on a map of the area (Figure 1). Itis estimated that the 1998 photo was, taken within about 10 metres (30 ft) of the 1970 photo. Unlike the 1970 photo which was taken under cloudy conditions, the 1998 photograph was taken in good lighting, and therefore shows a lot more detail in the terrain. The photograph was taken at about 9:45am, about the same time of day as the 1970 photo. Because of the higher detail some further analysis could be performed. By measuring rock formations on the island and scaling them on the photograph it was established that Jim was approximately 50 metres (164 ft) from the island, The distance of 250 metres (820 ft) from the island to the shore behind it was scaled off'a map. Therefore, the total distance from Jim to the shoreline was approximately 300 metres (984 fi). The 1998 photograph clearly shows that UFO#1 was in front of the tall spruce trees at the shore line. If we assume that UFO#1 is ust infront ofthe trees and therefore 300 metres from Jim, we can calculate itssize. After doing the math we get a maximum object diameter of 1.4 metres (45 fi). This agrees well with Jim’s estimate that the objects ‘were about 3 to 4 ft in diameter. Although the objects look like dots in Figure 2, calculations show that UFO#1 would have appeared to be about half the diameter ofa full moon to the witnesses. ‘The magnified images in Figures 4 and 5 (inside back cover) are magnified to the point where the grain structure of the film can be seen. This should be taken into account when looking for details in these images Nevertheless, useful data can be obtained from these magnified photos. The objects appear slightly hazy or diffused, However, note that there is no sharp detail in the entire photo so it is therefore not possible to tell if the actual objects were well defined spheres or diffused lights. Figure 5 (inside back cover) shows that the edge of the ‘mountainside in the upper right-hand comer is not any less diffused than the UFOs. Of notable interest is UFO #4. It is surrounded by 3 anomalous bluish objects or lights. ‘The magnified images can gave usa relative diameter and color of the UFOs. The diameter was used to assess object size and distance. The color of the objects also gives us some important information. This color difference is dramatically shown in Figure 4 (inside back cover), Note that UFOs | through 4 (the closest ones to the camera) are not in direct sunlight as the surrounding trees are not illuminated (see front cover). Therefore, these objects may be glowing by their own source. The glow is of yellow and perhaps of a slightly green color. In contrast, the area around UFOs 5, 6, and 7 up on the ‘mountainside is bathed in morning amber light from the sunrise, The three UFOs also seem to be of a similar amber color, suggesting that they may be reflecting sunlight as, well. If this is true, it indicates that they are of a solid nature rather than some form of plasma, The questions remain; if the 4 closer objects were exposed to the sunlight, would they also reflect it over and above their glowing yellow color? Did they appear to be of the same amber color to Jim once he observed the 4 closer objects join the other objects further up on the mountainside? Because there were nearby trees behind UFO#I it was possible to estimate the maximum distance and size of this UFO. This was not so easy for the other six. However, if we make some assumptions, we can perform some further calculations. If we assume that the other UFOs are of the same diameter, we can calculate their distance from the camera. When we do this we obtain: UFO#2 distance = 313 metres (1027 ft)UFO#3 distance UFO#4 distance 78 metres (1240 ft) 406 metres (1332 ft) If we do this for UFO#S which appears to be further up the mountainside where the sun appears to be shining, we obtain a distance of 1.15 kilometres. However, this is inconsistent with the actual distance of about 5 kilometres to this location. See map in Figure 1 One way this can be explained is if the objects on the mountainside are larger than UFO#1. If we do the calculation, UFOs #5 and 6 would have to be at least 6 metres (20 ft) in diameter. UFO# 7 appears to be much smaller in the photo and may be partially obscured by trees and a size calculation was not performed. The possible locations of the seven objects are shown within the two ellipses in Figure 1. Figure 2 (inside front cover) shows useful information which will aid in further analysis. Several dust particles and the frayed edge of the slide can be used to assess the quality of the copy negative and print. Ideally we want the grain structure of the copy film finer than the structure of the slide to capture the most detail. This is likely the case as films today have a much finer grain structure than in 1970. Nevertheless, this can be independently assessed by looking at the film grain size representing the dust particles. ‘The print will have to be enlarged further and rescanned for this analysis to be performed. Figure 2 is not scanned ata fine enough resolution for analyzing the film grain structure. FURTHER INVESTIGATIONS. It would be ideal to work with the original slide to perform further analysis. It would also be of great value if other photographs of the objects were taken. Perhaps one of the four UFOs in the forefront moved further up the mountai Unfortunately, Jim has moved down south and has since passed away. His wife is also deceased. Attempts will be made to recover the original slide by contacting, surviving relatives. George still resides in Whitehorse. A careful look at the film grain structure representing the dust particles on the slide will be compared to the grain size representing the UFOs to assess if the copy negative was of a fine enough g1 size to record as much detail as possible from the slide. WITNESS RELIABILITY. ‘The testimony of the secondhand witness George sounded very sincere. George was curious about what, Jim saw and photographed, and added that neither he nor Jim have or have had a big interest in the UFO phenomenon. ‘There was no apparent reason for Jim to make up the story or to fake the photograph. Jim's story which was related by George sounded sincere and the two were close friends. Jim was the Chief Grain Inspector of Canada around that time and therefore it is unlikely he would have risked his credibility by perpetuating a hoax. One question which often comes up is “Why is there only one photo of the objects when Jim observed them for 15 minutes?” Of course there may have been more photos that we are not aware of, but as far as George knows, Jim only had the one image. However, during the September 1998 field trip, one possible explanation for the one photo theory came to mind. As I was holding up the UFO photo in front of me, looking at the scene, and simultaneously trying to steer the outboard motor to get into Jim’s position, one thing very quickly became apparent. When I imagined what the real scene must have looked like, it almost sent chills down my spine. Although, UFO#I looks only like a dot in the photograph, UFO#! would have looked“ DAM CLOSE, “in real life. If Jim wanted to at the time, he could have driven the boat towards the UFO and been underneath it in less than 30 seconds and taken more photographs at very close range. Surrounded by ice-cold water it wouldn’t surprise me if he would have chosen to do just the opposite; that is, take one quick photo and continue to drive down the lake while keeping a somewhat fearful and very watchful eye on the objects! TECHNICAL INFORMATION. It is unknown what brand and model of camera ‘was used to take the original image. However, George thinks it was a good quality camera, pethaps a Leica. The film format was 35mm, George surmises that Jim may have been using 25 ASA slide film at the time. The September Sth, 1998 field trip established that the lens focal length was a standard 50mm, ‘The images attached here were obtained from the one slide duplicate in the following manner: Fuji 100ASA print film was used to make a copy of the slide. A copy stand and a 35 mm Cannon SLR Camera (EOS 630) was used to take nega A 100 mm (true Macro Lens) was used, magnit was I:1. The slide was backlit using Tungsten photo lamps with a blue corrective filter over the lens to compensate for use with daylight film. Aperture was set at £9.5. Shutter speeds were bracketed and ranged from 1/4 to 3 seconds. A timer was used to reduce camera shake. Glossy prints measuring 4x6 inches were made of the entire image (these would be approximately 4 times magnification of the slide). Twenty times magnified 5x8 inch prints of the UFOs were also made. The prints were scanned using a UMAX 1220S Scanner ranging from 300 to 1200 dpi. REMARK. [ In a recent issue, FSR 43/1, 1 gave an article by Jorge Martin relating the top-secret revelations of an American Ammy Officer. (Operation Curtain: Joint Military Exercises with Aliens?) It is evident that Sefior Martin has very good contacts in these important military quarters, and here is another report, from a different U.S. Army Officer, that will also give you plenty to think about! ~ Editor of FSR. | We were recently contacted confidentially by a source who at present still prefers to remain “anonymous” for reasons relating to his own security, and who gave us certain infomation apparently linking the mysterious “chupacabras”, now plaguing Puerto Rico, with....Roswell! This person approached us after hearing one of our radio programmes on the Notiuno Channel at 10.30 pm on. Thursdays. Employing the pseudonym of “Don Ernesto”, this US. Officer, now aged 70, offered to tell us what he knew about the “chupacabras”, which he says are linked with the UFO Phenomenon, but -so he claims- are not offensive towards humans! Initially he was extremely cautious in his approach, ‘emphasising that he had worked for U.S. Intelligence in very delicate and classified matters, and that, were his contact with us discovered, he would be “ likely to face very difficult and dangerous moments.” Finally, however, after considerable indirect contact, we were able to meet with him in a public place in our capital, San Juan, where our respective credentials might be exchanged, and his revelations to us might begin. Speaking with very great care, and carefully choosing his words, he was able to satisfy us as to his identity, and also as the nature of his past serv He began as follows: “I’ve been listening to your programmes for quite some time, and I can see that you are a brave man, for there is a lot of danger in all this UFO business, and I see that you are the only one who that dares to discuss things. But you have got to be very, very careful. “There are certain areas of the Government that don’t want these matters known. / know because I've worked in Military Intelligence myself, with a very high security grading, and I’ve been involved with some things that I now rather wish I hadn’t, and that I can’t discuss with you.” His features as he spoke were grave and pensive, and I can only say that if what he was telling me was faked, then he was a very good actor. He went on to say that the whole UFO business was now badly out-of-control and was creating a climate of hysteria; and that some sort of statement from the U.S. Government was long overdue in his opinion, and in the opinions of some of his colleagues. ‘And, in particular, he was worried about the general panic in Puerto Rico about the “chupacabras”, which he said are of no danger to humans, whether adults or children. We asked how he knew this, and he said he knew because he had seen them, that the creatures are extraterrestrials, and that the U.S. Governments fully aware ofi He said his first knowledge of these matters went back to 1960, and his words were as follows:~ “T was stationed at Fort Sill in Oklahoma, and I and other personnel boarded an aircraft there, and were taken to Roswell Base in New Mexico, touching down en route at Wichita Falls. And at Roswell we saw the creatures in sort of cages. I don’t know exactly whether we were on the main Roswell Base or not, but anyway, it was close near there. ( About the alleged Roswell Crash in 1947 I know nothing -that was 13 years earlier. ) “One of the entities that I saw there was similar to what was later shown in the TV film about the Roswell Crash, though certain of its features were different.” ‘When we asked him how the features differed, he replied that what he had seen in the cage at Roswell “was taller - about 6 ft. high, with very tiny ears. Like humans; it had a very fine, thin, velvety sort of down as hair. And it hada friendly, benevolent gaze, with sad-looking, dispirited eyes, as though lost, a stranger, and asking for something, or wanting to talk, but as though nobody could understand iu”“There were lots of other people there, examining the creatures. My own work in the group had to to do with the compilation of information of a certain specific nature. We were military, -the rest of the people there were doctors and scientists, and specialists in other fields. Some of the people there appeared to be civilians, while others appeared to be military, but in fact all of them were in civilian clothes. So far as I recall, they had come from all over the USA - Indiana, Delaware, Colorado, California, Texas, and so on, “Three very strange things that I saw there struck me. ‘One of the beings that I saw there was a queer one. Itwas in a great big white building constructed of white tiles, The being was in there, in a sort of cage, and although it ‘wasn’t a human being, it was very, very much like one. It had “ Chinesy ” type eyes (i.e. oriental), brightly shining, eyes, but they were red, and covered with a sort of skin or membrane. It had no eyelids. “They were taking photographs of it, and each time they used a flash, the eyes closed and then opened again. But the eyes themselves were red. The mouth was extremely small and fine, and it had no teeth. And tiny, tiny litle ears, and a tiny little nose that you could hardly see. And the face was really pale, very pale “And it looked so fragile. Its skin looked so transparent that you could see right down into the veins. A very, very smooth, pale, slightly rosy-coloured skin. I would reckon, that, with a skin like that, 3 minutes or so of direct sunlight ‘would bum it. You could see that it was very, very sensitive skin, he shape of the head was round. It had a sort of - not hait- but, as folks call it, a sort of velver, and only on the head. There was no other sort of hair on the body, and, apart from the upper part of the head, the rest of the entire body was almost completely human-looking. “In other words, the only part that was different from a human being was from the neck upwards. The head was round and very big in proportion to the face. I would describe the head as looking very swollen or inflated. But there was no sign of any wounds or anything like that. So that’s just how it was! “He was amale, and he was naked. They were keeping, him in a sort of cel, likea small room, with a grating, inside the bigger room -just like a sort of cell. In the cell they had abed for him, a toilet, and a washbasin -that’s how the cell was fitted out.” ‘We asked him whether the little room was insulated or sealed, or equipped with a special atmosphere. He said “No, -the cell was just fitted out as described, and the entity was enclosed in it, with a padlock or special clasp onit” He went on: “There were about 15 to 20 of the technicians and scientists there, and it was quite clear that, they hadn't the faintest idea what this was they were having to deal with. This has given rise to a whole lot of problems for me, in my own life, for I had problems with my own family. J had a family -and yet I couldn't tell them what sort of work I did. Everything was classified at the very highest level of security. “It is all so many years ago now, and I have never ‘wanted to talk to anybody about it nor could Ido so. And I still worry about it, for I find myself thinking about that being who seemed so lost... trying to say something to us, but unable to..., and gazing at us with eyes that looked so sad and so kindly. It just looked amiable. ‘There was no hostility in the gaze. And it was trying to talk, and nobody understood what it was saying. Its voice was like a ‘monotonous modulation, neither rising nor falling. Just very soft -as though praying.” We asked "Don Emesto” to try to imitate as well as he could for us the sounds that the being was uttering, and ‘what he gave us was a sort of “Hutrum siacum sinc iw. “It was almost like singing”, he said -“something sublime.” "Don Emesto" reproduced this in a soft, very faint, musical tone, and he continued, “But it also seemed as though the entity was somehow whistling, and when he whistled and made a hissing sound too with it, the doctors and all the others who were there laughed at it. At one ‘moment the entity managed to laugh too, apparently in imitation. Then, when everybody began to laugh, he uttered sound and produced something like a sort of smile. When he talked it was almost like akind of singing. Almost like praying. It was -as I have said -something sublime. “T would say that the language it was speaking was from the Middle East. Its arms and hands were very fine and slender. I don’t know whether the hands had five fingers orsix. The fingers were long. Idon’t recall whether or not they had nails. The feet were just like those of a human, but long and lean. “He had a male sex organ, but it was a sort of pinkish appendage resembling what we see on a small pig -pinkish, delicate, a bit like that! It was a small type of penis, of a maximum size of about 3 inches. And it wasn’t like the penis of a human, but had a tip that looked as though it had been cut off with a knife. Like a litte tube, Ithad no foreskin as we humans have. “I didn’t notice whether he had testicles. If he had, 1 don’t recall having seen them. Maybe they were inside -I just don’t know. “Along with that being, they also had, in a cell inside another room, some other creatures that were very strange fferent- very different. They had more-or-less the same features as the first one just described by me. The head large and pear-shaped, two little holes for a very tiny nose, and practically no ears visible at the external level. They all looked quite alike, but these ones had the whole body covered in hair, like a sort of fluffy down, “And on their backs they had, as it were, flexible spines -not little wings- but, as I say, like flexible spines. They had tiny arms with little hands on them, with fingers and claws, just like one great big nail. And these ones did have teeth, though not very visible. “On their backs, from the necks downwards, they had, as I say, those things like spines, just like the spinal crest ofan iguana, extending right down as faras the lower part of the back, and they were moving these about slowly. “They were about 5 ft. high, with “Chinesey” (slanted) eyes, also reddish, just as on the other creature -the more “human” one, Their knees were as if doubled back, like the knees of fowls, and went up and down as theystretched their legs “The upper parts of the feet looked muscular and strong. Obviously they were powerful, and designed for running and jumping. They looked somewhat like the feet of kangaroos -but not exactly. I wasn’t able to note at the time whether they had claws on their feet. The fine down on their skin was of a brown shade -almost red. “They were clearly some sort of animal or creature or whatever you might call it, because whereas the first one - the tall one- had a more human-like aspect, these certainly had not. They had a sort of long tongue darting in and out of the mouth like a snake s tongue, except that, instead of being forked, as the tongues of snakes are, this was Jong and pointed, and you could see that at its tip it had a sort of litle orifice, and through this little hole they seemed to be taking in air, or blowing out something. “There were two of these particular sort of creatures - both alive. And they were being held separately from the other one -the humanoid one. One of them, as you could plainly see at a distance, wasa female. Ithad what looked like breasts, with several small, fleshy little tubes. The other of these two was obviously a male because, you see, ithad a penis. On the female nothing genital was visible. The female was the fatter of the two, and apparently pregnant. We all assumed that they were a pair. “At that point the specialists who were there were remarking that they were going to carry out an examination of them both, and see why one was fatter than the other. First of all they took away the one that seemed to be female (-I wasn t there to see it-) -but they later explained ‘to me that they had killed it and examined its inside in detail, and had found a baby in it. THEY HAD KILLED IT. They didn't let me into the laboratory where they did that.” At this point in his story I noticed that his face was now grave and sad, and his eyes tearful, so I asked him why this was so, and this is what he replied:- ‘It upset me quite a bit, for what they did was an unjust and barbarous thing. They ought not to have done that! They should have tried to find some way of communicating. But -why KILL her! That upset me when Lfound out that they had killed her. And later I learned that they also killed the male in order to study him. Both these species of creatures that 1 saw there seemed to me, from what I could see of them, to be intelligent beings. Obviously the bigger one -the humanoid one- looked more intelligent than the other two, but that might well have possibly been because, in our view, he looked more similar to ourselves. What they later did with the more human-looking one I never heard. They were thinking of taking it to some other place. But I don’t think they will have killed it. “Well, of course, from what we saw of them it looked as if those two that they killed were apparently totally inoffensive towards us humans. They were just a couple of little animals, like teddy bears. Admittedly ugly, yes, but inoffensive, and from what we were able to hear, they seemed to be some sort of pets owned by the tall humanoids “Apparently the Government had captured an extraterrestrial craft with that tall being aboard it, and those ‘two other beings were also in that same craft, but were a sort of mascot or animal of certain degree of intelligence that they had with them aboard the craft. But personally I never got much information about the matter. “was never told where the craft had come down, nor where the craft was being kept, nor did I learn what they subsequently did with him, nor whether they had any more like him, Bear in mind, Marti, that in the Forces and the Intelligence Services you only have access to information up to the level of what it is that is necessary for you to know in order to do your job.” asked him: “Did any of the similar creatures to these - which, as you say, are being seen in Puerto Rico at present -did any of them ever try to attack your people?” He replied: “No. The critters just gazed at you with sad, imploring eyes. They inspired pity. They were lost, in ‘a world unknown to them. So far as we who were there saw them, those creatures are harmless. The problem is that they LOOK UGLY AND DIFFERENT FROM US, and so people are scared at the sight of them.” HE SAW BOTH TYPES OF CREATURES AGAIN. “In 1970 I again saw both types of the creatures. At that time I was still amember of a Special Unit, and stationed at an Army Base in the USA, and we received orders to go to Florida. They took us to a Facility at Cape Kennedy ~ but not one in any way connected with NASA or with rockets, etc, (They also told us to bring along civilian clothing too so that, if we had time, we might be able to get. a chance to see Disneyworld. But we had other priorities, so we didn’t consider it.) “can’t go into certain details with you, but I will tell you this: In those buildings at Cape Kennedy they had ‘another entity, also alive, like the tall one that I had seen in 1960 at Roswell. Itwas completely similar, and they also had it there naked. “Now, that place at Cape Kennedy was different from the place at Roswell. There was a large room, and in it the cell in which the being was kept. The place looked like the inside of a hospital -it was a big, extensive room. The entity was loose in the room, along with the people who were examining him, i. the Cape Kennedy place staff and the Military. “He was able to move around freely there ‘managed to touch him, but doing it scared me a bit, for, as, ve told you, those beings had such extremely delicate and I was afraid of doing him damage. I managed to jjusttouch him witha finger, but I drew itaway again quickly, He felt cold to my touch. Ifyou touch them they at once shrink away from you. ‘So, the place was a sort of hospital, and they had a bed for him there -a bed of the type just like you see in hospitals, and there was lots of medical equipment. But the entity wasn't caged as the one at Roswell had been. Several specialists were engaged in examining him, with stethoscopes and other instruments, and after them others ‘were coming and repeating the same experiments in order to verify the findings.” In answer to further questions, our retired Military LevenOfficer went on to explain: “ Those folk who were there with the creature were attempting to communicate with it. ‘They were trying out all manner of sign-language and sign- systems. There are some 167 ( +See footnote 1) languages in the whole world, and I would say that there were representatives there from many, many countries, using many of the languages, and, as it seems, nobody had managed to communicate effectively with him. “They were making all manner of attempts, using facial features, and eyes, and grimaces, and so on. I noticed at ‘one point that the entity made a face -some sort of gesture- and one of the doctors who was there said: “It looks like he’s thirsty.” And they brought him a glass of water, and very humbly the creature took it and swallowed it at one 0, just like any human would have done. I was able to see. that in this case, just as in the previous case at Roswell, the entity had no teeth. “Subsequently the creature was moved to Dover Base in Delaware, in the north-eastem part of the USA, though don’t know for what reason. “But, to my great surprise, later in that same year, Iwas ordered to go to Panama, and when I arrived there, at Fort, ‘Sherman, I was directed to go with some junior officers on. a survival course in the jungle. I protested, and asked why 1, who was already 38 years old, and not physically in the best of shape for that sort of exercise? “But the officer who was my immediate superior told me that, while the official reason for the operation in question was the alleged “survival exercise”, the real reason for the trip was to visit that entire jungle area, and, conduct confidential interviews with the native Indians and with the settlers in the villages there, and to collect all possible information about some mysterious creature that was allegedly killing domestic animals in the area. The mission was to be very secret. “Later, when talking to the Indians, I was greatly surprised as I realised that the creatures they were describing to me were similar to those I had seen at Roswell in 1960. According to the statements of all of them, those creatures were killing their domestic animals BUT THEY DID NOT EATTHEM. They merely seemed o be piercing holes in them and sucking out their blood. And they assured me that the creatures WERE NOT ATTACKING HUMANS -ONLY ANIMALS!” WHY THE NAME “CHUPACABRAS”? Then “Don Emesto” put to us the following question:- “Martin, hasn’t it occurred to you why it is that these creatures like the blood of our animals, and why especially they like the blood of sheep and goats? The first creatures of their type were, apparently, captured in the American Mid-West afier UFOs had crashed. “So it seems that the ones I had seen at Roswell weren't the only ones that the US Government had.” He went on: “You know, Martin, that in the American Mid-West there exist certain places where the Government is testing new types of aircraft, along with “other things” -places like Area 51 in Nevada, and in Utah, and New Mexico, where there are enormous level tracts. And in Arizona too, where there are mountains up to 9,000 ft. high, some of them “inaccessible”. “Well now, among some of those mountains there are closed-off valleys, and other things...some of those areas -some of the biggest ones- are in other States too, but of course, in the least inhabited ones. In those areas you will find Indian Reservations, and, inside those Reservations, you will find certain “other types of reservations” -i.e. other areas which are reserved, NOT NECESSARILY AS. ZONES FORNATIVE INDIANS, BUTALSOFOR “OTHER THINGS”. These places are very difficult to find. There are no paved roads leading to them. And the mere attempt to reach such places can endanger the lives of those who try it!” ‘We next asked him: “What would be the importance of those valleys and those zones?” He replied: “ Well, their importance lies in the fact that those valleys and those ‘mountains harbour certain facilites, certain buildings, which of course officially don’t exist, and where various types of experimentation are going on, on various... let us call them. “creatures” -or whatever you like to call them! Bear in mind too that, except for a few months in the year, the climate and temperature in those places tend to be somewhat similar -although less zropical-to, for example, those of Puerto Rico. “So, let us suppose that some branch of the Government was intent -for reasons unknown- on seeing, whether creatures like those I saw at Roswell could adapt themselves to living on Earth. ( * See footnote 2) Quite obviously the first thing would be that they would have to, be kept ina climate and temperature to their liking, as as to facilitate their adaptation, and apparently what they like is, warm and tropical climate. Very probably, of course, their place of origin would have had such an environment. “And -another detail that needs to be considered. Have ‘you realised that it was during the 1960s that allegedly the ‘mutilations and mysterious killings of thousands of heads of cattle and farm animals in the USA commenced -AND PRECISELY IN THOSE STATES OF THE MID-WEST! And also, did you know that the Indians who live on the Reservations in these States are engaged principally in the breeding of sheep, and the exploitation of their meat and wool? “Did you know that, for a long time past, they have been complaining that “something” is killing their sheep? If we add itall up, the picture becomes clear and complete. ‘And don’t you think this is how it is? Why is it that these creatures like sheep and goats more than other animals? It’s simple! It is because the first that they ever got to eat on Earth were the sheep and goats of the Indians on the Reservations near the secret Governmental installations where the US Authorities were holding the creatures, and the latter had picked up a taste for the blood and internal secretions of those particular breeds of animals?” -INTERESTING YES. But we still have to ask ourselves: HOW DID THESE CREATURES ARRIVE IN PUERTO RICO? To this question “Don Emesto’s” reply was as follows: “There are only two ways in which they could have come. Either they had arrived in other UFOs, as had occurred in the situation in which I had got involved with them originally. Or “someone” had brought them to theIsland -probably the Federal Government or some military or scientific agency of the USA -in order to see whether they adapted themselves to it. “Very possibly some of the creatures might then have escaped, and this has been the cause of all that is still going on today involving the “Extraterrestrial Biological Entities, or “chupacabras”, and the animals on the Island.” COMMENTARY AND SUMMING UP BY JORGE MARTIN. Certainly this account as given o us by “Don Emesto” and his analysis of the entire situation, provides much food for thought, because he does include certain logical details that we too had been considering in relation to how the “EBS” could have got here -some of which details we have ourselves already outlined in previous issues. BUT EVEN SO, WE ALSO HAVE TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE POSSIBILITY THAT THIS INFORMANT IS FEEDING US WITH CONTAMINATED INFORMATION, ie. DISINFORMATION, IN ORDER TO THROW US OFF IN OUR INVESTIGATIONS. WE MUSTNOT FORGET THAT HE HAS WORKED INTHE MILITARY INTELLIGENCE SERVICES OF THE US.ARMY, ATTHE HIGHEST LEVEL, AND THATAS A GENERAL RULE THOSE CONNECTED WITH BRANCHES OF DEFENCE AND GOVERNMENTAL SECURITY DO CONTINUE TO MAINTAIN VERY CLOSE LINKS WITH THOSE SERVICES. EVEN WHEN THEY HAVE RETIRED, THEY TEND TO MAINTAIN VERY POWERFUL LINKS OF LOYALTY TOWARDS THEM WHICH, OF COURSE, IS LOGICAL, AND INNO WAY WHATEVER ARE WE CRITICISING THIS. ‘THATHAS BEEN THEIR LIFE, AND THEY FEEL THE PATRIOTIC DUTY TO CONTINUE. BUT PRECISELY "AUSE OF THIS WE MUST TAKE MUCH CARE WHEN WEARE APPROACHED BY INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE BEEN CONNECTED WITH THOSE SERVICES - ‘THOSE VERY SAME SERVICES, REMEMBER, THATFOR OVER FIFTY YEARS PAST HAVE BEEN COVERING UP OVER THE UFOS AND DISINFORMING THE UFO INVESTIGATORS COMMUNITY AND THE PUBLIC IN GENERALAS TO THE REALITY OF THE MATTER. All the same, we must also say that, as we have been talking with him, we have had the feeling that “Don Emesto” was very, very sincere, as displayed both in his feelings and in his words, regarding everything that he claimed to have seen and to have experienced thanks to his alleged membership in the Special Unit of the U.S. Armed Forces involved with the UFO question. Furthermore, itis important to note that, at the moment when he first contacted us, “Don Emesto” told us certain other things when he was describing the creatures allegedly seen by him in 1960 at that installation at Roswell -things we already privately knew from our own investigations of the EBs on Puerto Rico, but which were not known at all to the general public. Among these things we can mention the following:- 1) The semi-humanoid form of the bodies, with oval- shaped heads, almost imperceptible nose, and the skin covered with reddish-brown coloured down. 2) The description of the red “Chinesey” ( ie, oriental ) eves, and how they turn black or red according to the amount of light 3) His description ofthe shortarms, and the hands ending in claws. 4) His description of the creatures’ feet. like the feet of a kangaroo, but not quite identical ”, with their knees ‘bent back” like the legs of afow!, and how the feet looked longer when stretched out 5) His description of the long pointed “tongues” that shot in and out of their mouths rapidly like tongues of snakes, and his mention of the tiny orifice at the end of the tongue through which they drew air or blew out something. This was something that we had till then known, but kept secret. It had been mentioned to us by various serious and reliable workers in Puerto Rico. This particular feature is especially important, seeing that he had no way whatever of knowing about such a detail unless he had actually seen it himself. This proved to us that he had indeed had some connection to a Federal Government Agency with knowledge of all that is going on. AS OF NOW ITIS THEREFORE OUR BELIEF THAT ‘THISINFORMANTHAD INDEED BEEN, AS HECLAIMS, AMEMBER OF THATSPECIAL UNIT, AND THAT WE, CAN TRUST HIS STATEMENTS, ESPECIALLY AS WE HAVE SINCE GOT TO KNOW HIM MUCH MORE CLOSELY, AS WELLAS MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY. AND BEFORE ITERMINATE THIS ARTICLE MUST ADD THAT THIS INFORMANT HAS ALSO GIVEN US OTHER REPORTS OF GREAT VALUE THAT CORROBORATE MATERIALALREADY RECEIVED BY US VIA OTHER CHANNELS, AND CONCERNING YET OTHER GOVERNMENTAL AGENCIES INVOLVED WITH RECOVERY OF CRASHED UFOS AND CAPTURED. GROOM LAKE AND ANTI-GRAVITY: AN ANSWER TO DR PIERRE GUERIN By Dr Jacques F. With warm regards, Jacques.] Few subjects have struck the public imagination in recent years with as much power as the possible presence of ‘extraterrestrial craft at the Nevada test sites. The suggestion has been made repeatedly that captured UFOs had been reverse- engineered and were being tested at Groom Lake. In my book Revelations | mentioned my reasons for being skeptical ofthis idea. Inthe course of my research I had spoken, at length to those who had originated the story, notably John, Lear, William Cooper and Robert Lazar, and found their data unconvincing. I also visited the area around the site, Until Dr. Guérin raised the question again {had no intention ‘of expanding on what I had published, orto respond at length in, print to those who questioned my position, which they certainly have every right to do. However | must make an exception for Dr. Guerin, in view of our long friendship and my regards for FSR, which published his article on the subject (The U.S. Air Force, Antigravitation and UFOs. Summer 98 Vol, 43/2, 2-7) ‘At the outset it should be clear that Dr. Guérin and I have {quite similar views about the current state of physics, and agree ‘onthe fact that many laboratories, including military facilites in the U. S., are working on advanced propulsion and antigravity. Some of these laboratories are known to have systematically gathered information from UFO witnesses in support of secret projects to inform such research, believe we would also agree that military authorities (not only in the U.S. but also in France, Great Britain and Russia) are abusing the standards of secrecy by refusing to release all the data they have about UFOs, which should be open to science. Every government, itseems, has high-priority, deeply classified interest in “our subject.” Where I differ from Dr. Guérin isin the interpretation of rumors surrounding Groom Lake, the actual observations of objects flying over the base, and specifically his belief that objects, seen at Groom Lake can only be powered by antigravity and therefore are of alien origin or inspiration. 1am surprised to read that Dr. Guérin accuses me of being “anxious to ridicule those who believe in the existence of great subterranean base” underneath Groom Lake, when I ask the question, “who takes out the garbage?” That quote is taken out of context from a section in Revelations which relates a long, interview I had with William Cooper. ‘The specific subterranean base we were discussing was not Groom Lake but different site, allegedly located near Dulce, in New Mexico. t was not even supposed to be guarded because “that would only attract attention”, Cooper assured me. As my enquiries about Dulce have confirmed (I went to New Mexico, spoke to people who had flown over the site and I saw many aerial photographs), any sizeable construction project on the Indian reservation there would have been clearly visible. In contrast, underground facilities are known to exist at the Nevada sites, if only to shelter computers from desert temperatures, and they are very heavily guarded, I never said anything different. More tothe point, Dr. Guérin goes on to ask me, “With what power source and what mode of propulsion can those sient drones that you describe to us be flying?” He has considered in tum -and eliminated- known forms of propulsion, namely (i) rocket engines, (i) turbines and (ii) MHD. I cannot fault his, analysis on this basis, However I believe there are interpretations for what is seen and filmed in Nevada that do not involve antigravity or alien intervention. One such interpretation would center on a new ‘generation of devices that do not carry their own power source and are therefore capable of high acceleration and extreme maneuverability Inits issue of 17 February 1996 the British magazine New Scientist, hardly a classified publication, carried a cover story entitled “Forget aerodynamics -anything can fly.” The article by Mike Ross had as a subtitle: “Hypersonic flying saucers driven by microwaves: not science fantasy but the goal of serious researchers in the U.S.” In a classical application of current physical concepts, scientists Leik Myrabo and Yuri Raizer at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in New York State have researched ways of controlling airflow around acraft by directing an energy beam at it either in the form of microwaves or lasers, creating an “air spike.” Their initial work was sponsored by the Space Studies Institute in Princeton, New Jersey Since the early days ofthe “Star Wars” project other groups around the world are known to have experimented with various vehicles powered from the ground, ftom aircraft or from satellites, with directed energy beams. Such devices would meet thecriteria required by Dr. Guérin, yet they would remain within the standards of known physics. My guess is that observers around Groom Lake have been seeing advanced platforms using such powered beam propulsion rather than any of the three conventional power sources listed by Dr. Guérin, Given the notoriously unreliable nature of the sources for the “Alien presence” stories at Groom Lake, I regard these rumors as a form of disinformation deliberately planted to discredit anyone observing secret tests of the new platforms, and as a distraction from the main problem ufologists should be researching. ‘To me, that main problem concerns the nature and origin of the objects described to us by reliable witnesses who provide us with verifiable, first-hand data, including actual physical samples in some cases. In his classic field work at Valensole and other sites, Dr. Guérin has inspired us to pursue this research, One last comment about Groom Lake: The Nevada base, with its very long runway used by over a dozen different military and intelligence agencies and their contractors, is designed to test platforms that require enormous airspace for telemetry, combat simulation and training. These do not seem to be the conditions under which one would need to experiment with reverse-engineered antigravity systems, Given the large number of truly secret facilities available around the world, it would seem odd for the U.S. military to test an antigravitation device at such a site, especially if it was derived from alien technology where strict compartmentalisation was required. MY REPLY TO JACQUES VALLEE. By Dr Pierre Guérin. (Special to FSR. Translation from French by GC.) 1am extremely sorry over my confusion of Groom Lake and Dulce in connection with the subject of the “collection of garbage”! I can’t understand how it was that 1 misinterpreted in this fashion the reference given by Dr Vallée in his book Revelations, and | ask him to accept my apologies. But now I come to the root of the argument. Dr Vallée cites state-of the-art American technical research aimed at reducing air-resistance to hypersonic speeds by means of powerful laser beams discharged in front ofa craft so as to create a trough. (See footnote I) Ifthe craft is very light it then becomes capable not only of great speeds, but also of very powerful accelerations, and it could easily be taken for a “UFO”, First of all | will point out that, in his book Revelations, in order to explain what has been observed over Groom Lake, Dr Vallée had suggested the idea of drones (tele- controlled observation platforms), which have in faet long, been in use by the American Armed Forces. I had opposed that explanation, which did not account for the facts of the situation. Now, however, Dr Vallée seems to have renounced on the theory of drones, and is invoking, technologies of a more revolutionary nature, But the New Scientist article that he quotes in support Of his statements dates from 1996. And at that time -1996 -according to the author of the article- the research into the employment of lasers to reduce air-resistance was only at the stage of wind-tunnel tests.Even if in other U.S. laboratories they may at that time already have been further advanced, itis difficult to believe that such advance could have been of more than just a few years at the very most. But the “UFOs” seen over Groom Lake had been in the news for much longer than that. In other words, in order to explain those sightings over Groom Lake, Dr Vallée is invoking machines that are only NOW possibly starting to fly. But there is more to it than that! The power that is driving such eraft is nor laser power. Laser power is merely aiding them to penetrate into the atmosphere. And at once we find ourselves confronting the question of the very nature of the propulsion system involved, which has got 10 be silent, and has got to explain the sightings. I recently saw, here in France, a video cassette that is ‘on sale commercially, and that, in particular, contains two film footages taken by amateurs and showing -against a terrestrial background with identifiable landmarks- the ‘movements of two types of eraft that have been observed over Groom Lake. In the first of these two films you see an object with a forward-and-backward motion that is absolutely extraordinary, with no apparent inertia whatsoever. And the object’s accelerations, at the moments in its course where it reverses direction, are virtually infinite. In the second of the two films you see two objects performing circuitous weaving movements at apparently infrasonic speeds. Thave chosen two cases, each of a different nature, showing the great complexity of the abduction syndrome. Tam certain you will encounter some surprises and as a result will be much better informed on such matters, T cannot give the true names or locations of these persons, for that would be a terrible dis-service to those who trust me. I regret to tell you that it is not socially acceptable to be an abductee or, for that matter, even an investigator-researcher of them! The attitudes of many people, especially in the academic, media, and religious fields of life, are deplorable. Sometimes one’s own home- folks can become one’s foes. Bor of ignorance, this opposition can be subtle or emotionaly hostile. Were it not for the fact that I am often valuable help to some bewildered souls in the throes of the Aliens, | would phase myself out of this business, ‘There are two polarities in the experience of abduction. Pll call one the fear/despair pole, and the other the euphoric! trusting pole. Some persons have alternated from infatuation to wanting to wring the Aliens’ skinny necks, The outrageous aspects of this immoral, lawless, activity are by nature all-pervading. It is these frightening acts of temporary kidnapping and child molestation, to name a few, that would, if Government lost control, send humanity into an abyss of terror and near-collapse. A positive experience does exist for some abductees, but itis often tinged with a degree of helpless resignation and apprehension. In cases 4 and 90 you will see each extremes demonstrated, First, | want to mention briefly a few other cases, 101 to 103, on which I am now working, in order to give you an idea of the great range of experience encountered in this phenomenon. In Case 102 I am attempting an analysis requested by the subject, of her extensive experiences. | “have my work cut out”, for in her case we have; (A) A lifetime “Grey” mentor who has even taken her on underground trips. (B) Tall Caucasian-looking guardians provided for a non- altered state daylight trip. (C) An abductee who is a temporary foetus - incubation source producing some 25 hybrids. In Case 101 the abductee says, “Life is just terror. 1 know when they are coming and I fear the night. I don't know how my heart holds up.” I have been able to help this lady. In Case No, 94 there is lifetime contact with the Nordic types. She is also familiar with the Grey types, who she calls the Zetas, and she has been on board their craft, where she viewed ordinary humans and halflings (alien/ human) in a park-like atmosphere. My last word from her ‘was not good. She said, “I have been suffering great anxiety as a result of some of my experiences. Not so much from the ETS, but from the other guys who get me to find out, ‘what the ETs are doing, I feel very “caught in the middle”, and am having a lot of medical anomalies, causing me to be hospitalized.” ‘The last word from Case 97 was not good either. It was acall from his brother telling me that my Anderson (Indiana) abductee was in the hospital for medical observation. It was no surprise, for the adolescent-type Nordics were simply abducting this man too much, disrupting his life and ruining his health. 1 knew that if he spoke any of the Sanskrit-like languages that his nocturnal companions had been teaching him he would be in trouble. (Sanskrit was the language of ancient Gods of India who flew in wondrous aerial craft.) CASE 4: FARMER JOEL PARKER (EXAMPLE OF FEAR/DESPAIR) Few know about this stark drama which took place on a southern Illinois farm. At 4.30 am one day in June 1974, Alan Parker, enroute to the bathroom, looked out and saw a large fiery craft take off from his soya-bean field. Close by was the bedroom where his son Joel was sleeping. Next day, Joel wondered why his socks (he had slept with them oon), were wet and dirty. Soon after that, his mother had to take him to a doctor for a bladder infection, and for examination of a small hard knot on the rear underside of his penis A few years later, the Parkers moved to another house, oon the same farm. The new tenants in the old house quickly moved out however, saying that they had been visited by some “scary ghosts” who appeared at their bedsides and stared at them, ‘These were diminutive big-headed ghosts with large black eyes. On a spring day in 1986, Joel pushed on a festered place near the knot on his penis, and out popped a wafer- thin, round, blue-grey, hard, object. Not realizing its significance, he threw it in a trash can. Several months later, as the family were standing, in their yard, a silver dise zipped from the old house, hovered overhead, then vanished upwards. The family remained as unsuspecting as ever. Then, one dark September evening, something began to pound on a metal silo behind the house. Joel grabbed his rifle and slowly approached the site. In the dim light he spotted a strange figure crouching on the peak of the roof. It quickly vanished, but he took a wild shot and fled back to the house. His sighting of this strange being began to trigger latent and forgotten scenes in the mind of Joel. In the following, months bits and pieces of what had happened on that eerie night 12 years before began to enter his conscious mind. During that moonlit summer night he had awakened and found himself partially paralyzed, but was able to raise himself up on his elbows and see the entities approaching, Moonlight and shadows played across theit moving figures, and he could see their big heads, grey-white skin, and their blue clothing. After a Grey had arrived at each side of his bed one of them reached out and touched Joel con the shoulder. It was as he say’ “just like getting a shot of Novacain.” The phantom-like creatures communicated with him mentally, and knew what he was thinking. They
