Conservative assumption is made that all columns in the portion of the frame under consideration reach their individual buckling loads simultaneously. The charts are based on a slope deflection analysis. In Figure 4.3, the two subscripts A and B refer to the Points at the two ends of the column or beam-column under consideration, while G is defined by: G= (U/L) columns ~ S/L) girders Where, the © indicates a summation of (UL) for all members Tigidly connected to that joint (A or B) and laying in the plane in which buckling of the columa is being considered. L is the unsupported length and I is the moment of inertia perpendicular to “he plane of buckling of the columns and the beams. a4 4.3.3.3 For a column base connected to a footing or foundation by a ‘rictionless hinge, G is theoretically infinite, but shall be taken as 10 ‘n design practice. if the column base is rigidly attached to a properly uesigned footing, G theoretically approaches 0.0, but shall be taken 45 1.0 in design practice { Table 4.6 ) Table (4.6) G values for Columns with Special End Conditions Column Base Condition ‘Stebilty and Slendemess Ratios 60 19 sews pibry ul SULINjOD sopey SSoUrepLa!S PUe ANTES jo () 20124 YGue] BuIpong Jo} sweyD weuubyy (ey) aunbia payiuuag Aemsepis payuendid AeMsepls o oT ° Q so ° Cc ro — re vl Por 4 = oS r 0 a 4 90 % roe to £0 on Coe > ro - vo 4 0 oF oe OF vo “eg x0 + or £0 “a \e3 [es vo _| oo oe E-0% no 84 u ve EBS v0 oor oc Foor 4 T - rm oe or al oor . 0°02 ve . oe ove os 008 eS “ ge oon vor [908 ous OOF ‘co, Hf a, eS &§9 E Me) ) 4 Yo For partially fixed base truss al J | a |— roof column 4 4 [P\— partiatty fixed |__ combined column hs] (crane column) Ried side view “ Elevatio for roof column: for combined column: 1,,.=1.5(h, + Lt ol, =1.5R. ebin=l-5(h, TB) vin = TOR, elsout =h,or h, (bigger) elbout = hy Combined J! syJl5 roof column J! jx Ue)! 5355 4) (Sed! ye TES Job Glam jar, UII ode 5yHinged joint © ole truss I J a of | reap eotumn | C Ir LL Hinged joint | combined cobemn hg| (crane column) Fired side view " Elevation] for roof column: for combined column: lying =2-0(, + Bey olyin=2-1 Ry elbout=horh, (bigger) elbout=hs (2) BY cls! ey truss IN Ge Jay op S syny UL ody Ty frome Te hy |— reof column 4 — partially fixed x |__combined column | (crane column) Ll J L, side view Fined (Elevation| for_roof column: elvout =h, eloin =K.L .
