Stages of piaget's cognitive development.

Piaget's contented and identified four stages of cognitive development as below.

The first stage according to piaget's is sensorimotor stage he named it so simply becouse at this stage
behavior mostly depent on motor responses to the sensory stimuli. This stage is aproximately from birth
to age 1.5 years in which child response to to sensory stimuli by simple reflexes. Peagets concluded that
at this stage child lack object permanence which is the idea that objects continues to exist even if they
are displaced and we cannot see.and uses little language

The piaget's second stage in cognitive development stage was preoperatinal stage which is between age
1.5 to 7 years. He identified three aspects to study in this stage namely difficulty in distinguishing
between appearance and reality, lack of concept of conservation and lastly egocentrism. Egocentrism
can imply that a child few the world as one center around himself or herself and cannot consider or take
other people's perspective. At this stage a child develops language and he or she can represent objects
mentally by language. He called so this stage becouse a child lack operation which are reversible mental
process and child is still troubled when he tries to distinguish between reality and appearance.

The third stage of cognitive development is concrete operation which is from 7 to 11 years. At this stage
a child fail to understand that objects can conserve and preserve their properties such as volume, area,
mass, and length after it is displaced or arrangement changed. He contented that a child have trouble in
hypothetical situation and trouble also in reasoning.

The last stage of cognitive development according to piagets is formal operational which occur at the
age of 11 years onward. This period involves adolescence in which a child develop logical deductible
reasoning and systematic planning . A child can think and reason logically about hypothetical concept
and abstract also a child can develop strategies and plans in advance.
