1.What is water 4.0?

The German Water Partnership created the concept of Water 4.0, which is defined as follows:
WATER 4.0 is a strategy for resource-efficient, flexible, and competitive water management that
prioritises digitization and automation. WATER 4.0 does this by combining the primary characteristics
and phrases of the INDUSTRY 4.0 industrial revolution, such as "networking of machines, processes,
storage systems, and resources," "smart grids," and "Internet of Things and Services," into a systemic,
water management context.

Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) are drivers of optimal networking of virtual and actual water systems in the
implementation of WATER 4.0, with software handling most of the planning, building, and operation.

In these terms, the concept is Cyber-Physical Systems, which is a challenging idea to grasp to be honest.
Water 4.0 is all about having the necessary information to enable the water business to make informed
decisions from an operational standpoint. A well-informed decision is based on situational awareness,
which allows the industry to function in the most efficient and cost-effective manner possible in order to
provide a service to the consumer.

2.What is the concept of digital water?

Digital Water makes recommendations to users based on real-time data – actionable knowledge that can
help us bridge the gap between our intrinsic need for clean water and the practical realities of operating
across an ever-failing national infrastructure.
