- Farmers should get MSP "at least 50% more than the
weighted Cost of Production (WACP).
- Reality :- Out of the 24 Mandate crops, only one commodity is
able to get the C2 + 50% = MSP which is "Baajra". (It was Added in
2018).

 Shanta Kumar Committee Report, 2015.


- Food Procurement System reported in 2015 that on average, just
about 14% of paddy and wheat farmers were able to sell their
produce to government procurement agencies. Remaining are
sold outside.
- Even those who sold to the government got the declared MSP
for only 27-30% of their produce.
- The report also suggests that only rich farmers are able to access
government mandis and get paid the MSP.
- According to agriculture census of our country, 86% of Indian
Farmers falls into Category of Small/Marginal Farmers and rest
are in the Category of Medium/Semi-Medium/Large Farmers.
- 60-70% Farmers in our country have never heard About MSP.
- Only 6% of Agri-Produce is sold to Procurement Agencies.
- 75% of Paddy growers and over 65% of Wheat growers didnt
even knew that the government procures any Foodgrains.
- 68% of Paddy growers and 6O% of Wheat growers have didnt
even heard of Minimum Support Price (MSP).
