Death of Dean of Guildry Ian Crawford
Guild Brothers will be saddened by the untimely death of Ian
Crawford age 74 on Sunday 8 February at Stirling Royal Infirmary.
Ian joined the Guildry 12 August 1987 and became a member of
the Dean’s Council for several years before becoming Dean at the
AGM held 6 December 2006. He had decided to continue for a
third year in office and had intended hosting the Dean’s Dinner.
Ian will be remembered for a number of projects, in particular the
donation of Dux medals to Bannockburn High School.

Dean’s Council
At the Winter Court/AGM 6 December a new Dean’s Council was elected.

Members: John Barton, Michael Coleman, Alan Donald, Alasdair Gammack, Robin Iffla, Graham Reed,
Tom Sinclair and William Weir.

Interim Dean.
This is the first time in living memory that a Dean has died in office and a Dean Elect had not been
nominated. Following a full discussion and unanimous approval the Dean’s Council authorised the ap-
pointment of Past Dean Alan Webb as Interim Dean until a new Dean is appointed at the Annual Gen-
eral Meeting at the Winter Court to be held 2 December 2009.

An excellent meal at the Park Lodge Hotel was fol-
lowed by superb speakers Physiotherapist Joan
Watt and Solicitor General, Frank Mulholland.

Dean’s Diary
Since the July 2008 Newsletter was distributed:
Friday 28 September: Harvest Supper. 50 Members and partners attended at the Park Lodge Hotel.
Friday 24 October: Dean Ian Crawford attended the Court of Deans of Guild, Scotland Autumn
Meeting in Lanark accompanied by Past Dean Alan Webb.
Sunday 9 November: Remembrance Day Service. There was a very good attendance at the Church
of the Holy Rude and for the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial afterwards.

Annual Levy
The Annual Levy of £15 is due in March. Members are invited to complete a Standing Order form which
was introduced effective from 1st July 2007. Forms for 2009 are available from Tom Boyle, Treasurer,

To date over 2,000 brochures have been supplied of version one and two to Guildry Members, New
Entrants and distributed, via the Church of the Holy Rude, Guildhall and Smith Art Gallery and Museum,
to the local community and tourists.
