Introduction

Big data analytics is referred to as a complex process of describing big data to expose

data like correlations, hidden patterns, market tendencies, and consumer preferences -- that might

help organizations to create better business decisions. Smart Cities often use the key predictive

big data analytics to recognize which areas are highly prone to be crime hubs and forecast the

accurate crime location. Information such as geographical and historical data helps smart cities to

develop a safer workplace or environment. In other words, a smart city is made smarter when

using big data properly for several of its services and applications. Big data solutions in

organizations help to address several issues like giving storage and key analytical tools. The

major features of big data highly determine the key possible for advancements and

developments. The key possibilities are boundless; thus, bounded through the obtainable tools

and technologies. For huge big data to attain higher business objectives and advance huge

services in smart cities, it requires accurate approaches and tools to be classified and analysed

proficiently. By recognizing the accessible abilities and limits, the companies can keep several

chances for key applications and higher services for the cities with the key use of big data. This

paper describes the key use of big data analysis in the smart cities and its effective use in

RADICAL platforms.

Big Data Analytics

Big Data analytics is referred to a process that is used to extract key meaningful insights,

like hidden patterns, market trends, and huge customer preferences, to attain business goals. The

key applications of big data have the prospective to offer several subdivisions in the smart city. It

might help give crucial customer services and experiences directly linked with the attainment of
4

businesses' goals and objectives. It plays an essential in the organization to gain useful insights to

maximize the overall business productivity and effectiveness[ CITATION Pal18 \l 16393 ].

Uses of Big Data Analytics

There are several instances of applications of big data that serve smart cities, like:

1. Smart Education

Big data gives an optimum solution to improve the efficiency of education processes and

its productivity by using smart services in education that are supple and useful to better utilize

data, improved assessment, and traffic control, huge provision for life-long culture for many

individuals (stakeholders and citizens). Therefore, the applications of Smart education might

involve individuals in active learning business atmospheres which help them adapt to the major

variations of community and the business atmosphere. Therefore, people will have a key result

on the information learning and techniques to attain huge knowledge by focusing on big data

gathered and properly processed to generate the essential information.

2. Effective Traffic Lights

The key features of smart cities is proper flow of traffic control in the city, which might

improve the key transport structures and enhance the users’ travels and the cities whole traffic

forms. If the huge population rises, pollution, traffic problems, and monetary problems occur.

Because of this, the proper use of smart traffic signals and lights is one of the crucial methods

that smart cities commonly used to treat with higher traffic measurements and key

overcrowdings[ CITATION Nua15 \l 16393 ]. Therefore, smart traffic signals and lights must be

interrelated through the traffic networks to provide more data regarding key traffic designs.

Every sensor identifies many traffic flow parameters (like cars’ speeds, the density of traffic,
5

waiting lights time, and traffic jams). The system creates effective decisions as per the core

standards of these key limits and provides the major directions to the signals and lights. Hence,

the huge data obtainable to this system, the well-versed choices it would capable to make.

Henceforth, to provide the best crucial services in the smart city lights, it might be greatest to

gather information from all the key traffic lights throughout the city and develop smart decision

systems applying big data.

3. Smart Grid

It is a vital component of the smart city and act as a key renovated electronic grid system

that properly uses ICT to gather and act on available information, like information about the

consumers and suppliers tastes and behaviors, in a key automatic fashion to add more values. It

also increases the economics, efficiency, sustainability, and reliability of the distribution and

production of electric power. It is moreover used computer-oriented remote panels with double

faced effective communication technology among the power consumers and producers to

increase grid reliability and efficiency via system feedback and self-controlling. It includes

engaging smart meters and sensors on transmission, key distribution, and production systems to

the consumer key access facts to get rough around real-time information regarding the crucial

production, power consumption, and errors. Big data often develops dynamic rating models for

the power users to find out huge peaks by using more cares throughout peak times and reduced

charges through many key times. It helps to prevent potential power usage because of higher

customer demands[ CITATION XuW21 \l 16393 ].

Usage of Big Data in Radical Platforms

Cisco Systems, Inc. is a multinational American Company who’s headquartered in San

Jose, California, in the area of the Silicon Valley. Cisco makes, produces, and sells networking

software, hardware, key telecommunications tools, and many high-technology products and

services. It uses big data analytics to control major aspects of the network, from software or

hardware to cloud-based applications to devices that effectively use the network with higher

speed and proper understanding. Through proper automation, analytics gives the company not

only information but also key recommendations to help make better business decisions. Cisco is

becoming smarter, information is becoming more available. By using this analytics of big data,

Cisco can make smart cities more economical, also save money, and become overall life good

for citizens.

Big data, moreover, can a crucial impact on many sectors of a city, such as public safety,

city budgets, transport, and so on. Smart cities should give security to their citizens. Cities might

often use key big data analytics to recognize which areas are highly prone to be crime hubs and

forecast the accurate crime location. Effectively using key big data in smart cities might help to

improve public health effectively. Big Data is a crucial major part of data analytics and is often a

fast-growing need of the hour as data handling, and big data systems become

essential[ CITATION Bar21 \l 16393 ]. Smart cities, therefore, have a key data input and a large

amount of ways to implement and process that data. Particularly, smart cities use big data

analytics to fetch crucial information and often efficiently process it for executing it in a

common area. The smart city sensors and connected devices gather information from many smart

city gateways connected in a city and then use it for proper decision-making.

The age of big data has driven many radical changes in the platforms of key data

analysis. Hence, researchers are striving to create novel data analysis tools more than before,

which has largely initiated multiple platforms and algorithms. As far as the RADICAL platforms

are concerned, big data plays an effective role in enabling the huge transformation of smart

cities, with various organizations using the big data in key RADICAL platforms.

The growth of modern cities today has been initiated the crucial concepts from IT since

technology largely impacts how the whole towns work. Thus, it is wise to attain the approaches

coming with IT to improve creativity and innovations. Moreover, many problems affecting smart

cities give a need for the stakeholders to derive effective mechanisms of application in the smart

cities. Various issues developing in the cuties are waste energy, traffic congestion, and pollution

as well. Hence, with the best use of big data, participatory sensors might be implemented in

smart cities to demonstrate the crucial benefits related to big data infrastructures to organizations

operating in the cities[ CITATION Alr21 \l 16393 ].

Conclusion

To conclude, big data plays a vital role in a smart city. Cities might process data from

sensors and IoT devices to recognize needs and patterns. The analysis may reduce the amount of

road accidents and key congestion and often help drivers to find the best parking spot. The key

use of big data tools for the smart city helps store info and produce information that might

enhance various services of smart city. Hence, big data enables the key decision-makers process

for key growth in smart city resources and services. It further helps to recognize the key insights

that might improve better decisions and huge strategic business moves.
