QUARTER 4 MODULE 12

LESSON 12 SUSTAINING AN ICT PROJECT FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED

Guide Questions:
1. Is your ICT knowledge and skills enough to manage the website? Why?
 For me, the answer is No. To manage a website, you have to become familiar with setting up and handling server
computers. Server computers are the type of computers where your website files are stored. You can also set up
your domain or website URL in the server computer. Aside from handling and configuring server computers, you
also need to be familiar with handling your website database and contents. On how to edit the pages so you can
update the website contents regularly. A website with outdated contents will just cause confusions to your
readers. Dates, numbers and even your inventory counts must be updated at all time, especially when you have
to run a dynamic website (Example: E-commerce or shopping cart websites). To manage a website, one person
is not enough. You need a team who will handle the website. One could be a developer, one could be the IT who
will manage the server, one member could be in charge with the updating of contents and other important data
within the site.

2. How can you become a contributor in your society by Creating an ICT Project? Briefly discuss your role?
 ICT is a power tool when it comes to innovation. When you study ICT, you can handle things that are related to
technology such as computers, mobile phones and others. If you wanted to contribute great in a society using
ICT, you do the following:
 Use your technology to search and have access for information that can be useful and helpful to the society.
Such information includes latest updates on current issues that affecting almost the whole city or country.
Be aware of the source of your information and share it responsibly.
 Be a responsible social media user. You can contribute a lot if you only share true and legit information and
you don't support online bullying, identity theft and other activities that could harm others like participating
in hacking and cyberterrorism.
 Use ICT to teach others.
 Use ICT for economic growth. Support local online businesses.
 Use ICT to connect people by engaging in seminars and other learning meetings.

By becoming a contributor, it empowers people to share knowledge and advice instantaneously and set up an
online shop or website at a low cost, dramatically lowering the barriers to starting a business.

3. What are the difficulties that you encountered?

 The major barriers were lack of genuine software, inadequate computer in the classroom, low speed internet,
lack of motivation from both teacher and student side to use ICT, lack of proper training skills, unavailability of
latest ICT equipment, lack of expert technical staff, poor administrative support, poor course curriculum etc.
