Unit 6: THE SILK ROAD

 The Silk Road was a major trade route between Europe and Western China for 1500
years.
 It was used from 100 BCE to 1400 CE.
3 dynasties in power during the Silk Road period (dynasty= group of rulers/ family with
political control)

1. Han: From 206 BCE – 220 CE 🡪 the Silk Road started


2. Tang: From 618 - 907 🡪 the peak period of the Silk Road
3. Ming: From 1368 🡪 the Silk Road stopped
 The Silk Road was a network of routes between China & the Mediterranean. 
 It all started in Xi’an, also known as Chang’an.
