I. TITLE:
The Environment: Why should I care?
II. SUMMARY:
III.
Environment pertains to the surrounding or conditions in which a person,
animal, or plant lives.
Types of Pollution:
1. Air Pollution
2. Water Pollution
3. Soil/Land Pollution
Global warming is one of the factors behind climate change. As people who
are residing on Earth, we are held responsible of the changes that
happened, is currently happening, and what will take place in the future.
Reasons why we should care for our environment:
- A clean environment is essential for healthy living.
- Our great-great grandchildren will appreciate it. - It reflects our
character. - This is our home.
Ways to show care to our environment:
- The 3 Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle) - Conserve energy.
- Save trees and wildlife.
- Teach children to save our planet.
IV. ANALYSIS
Let us further examine the Reasons why we should care for our environment.
V. CONCLUSION
“By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail.” A short but powerful quote
from Benjamin Franklin. Environmental Preparedness is one of the most
helpful projects that our country executed, it carried out strict laws for
maintaining a fit society for us to all live in. The President, together with his
cabinet members implemented the “Boracay clean-up.” Citizens were amazed
by the transformation (as seen in the photos below).
With this lecture, I was inspired to apply it in my life even with the given
situation we are all in right now. Let us be aware of our surroundings. Pick
up
that trash you see laying on the road, be a helping hand to reflect good deeds
for children. Teach them with proper intentionality. Start with teaching them
various types of pollutants and what damage they do to the trees, the air we
breathe, and to the seas.
We can always start again to bring back the beauty that was once given to
us before it is too late. Majestic animals are decreasing, climate is changing,
but with the help of prayer and genuine action plan, there is still hope for our
“dying” Earth to be in good shape. Let me share with you Numbers 35: 33 “Do
not pollute the land where you live, for bloodshed pollutes the land, and no
atonement can be made for the land on which the blood is shed, except by
the blood of the one who shed it.”
This is also a reminder that the Creator provided us with these beautiful
things, but we are only the caretakers, not the owners. We should not pollute
it with irresponsibility and laziness but preserve it with authentic care.
V. Values Integration:
1. What are some things that I currently do that may not contribute to protecting
or conserving the environment?
Honestly speaking, I still use plastic bags that are provided by take-out restaurants and
grocery bags. Although our family have eco-friendly bags for grocery shopping, some
malls and stores still give us plastic bags which led us into using them for food waste,
storage, etc. Besides using plastics, I do no throw garbage improperly.
I also need to improve the practice of Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle so that useful
materials would not go into waste. I am grateful for my school for teaching us the 3 Rs
at an early stage as preparatory (before K-12 was implemented). Because of this, I was
able to determine different techniques on what to decompose and what can be used
again. At home, I sometimes forget to switch of lights or unplug wires whenever they
are not in use. But thankfully, I became more aware of these things especially now that
most of us are always inside of our homes.
I also need to improve sharing tips on how to help make our environment clean and
safe with the use of social media. As a student, I can either organize an event and
volunteer in organizations that has a positive effect for preserving natural resources
along with protecting the habitats of animals.
VI. Reflection
