MULTICULTURAL LESSON PLAN

Subject/concepts: Different skin tone/hair

Grade level: Kindergarten

Standards: Observable objective SS.3.1. To be able to distinguish the similarities


between one’s own culture and other cultures.

Multicultural Goal: Students will learn to respect others and know that were all
different in some ways.

Auditory-Vision-Kinesthetic learning styles: Discussion, reading book.

Materials: Pictures of different hair color and skin tone.

Instructions:

Do first : First I will show students pictures of children with different skin tones
and hair then I will ask them if they look the same and if they answer no I will ask
them why?

Mini Lesson: I will read two multicultural books to students and ask questions

What are the differences between these two in the book?


Are their hair color the same?

Guided practice: First the class will identify the pictures you have shown them
and tell you what they see, what hair color the hair is, tell you if it’s long or short.
Then later you can explain to them your hair.

Independent Practice: Students will draw what their family looks like and they
can draw their hair color and length students will see the differences.

Closure: From this lesson the children will be able to see that they are all
different.Looking different is normal and is to be respected.
