Polyjet Modeling – Process, Advantages and Applications

Polyjet Modeling Process

Polyjet Modeling uses a print head suspended over a build platform. The print head has several
nozzles along with a UV lamp. While printing, the print head sweeps all over the platform as it spews
tiny drops of photo-sensitive polymer on the build platform. Almost immediately, the UV light cures
the polymer droplets. The platform then lowers around 16 – 32 microns (according to the prescribed
settings) and the print head begins applying the next layer of polymer material to the build platform
before curing it quickly with the UV light attached to its nozzle.

This process keeps going till the 3D model is manufactured completely. Once the model is
completed, you will need to remove overhanging sections of waxy material manually, as part of the
post-processing.

Applications of 3D Multi Jet Fusion in India

This technique allows designers and manufacturers to create high resolution and extremely accurate
prototype models using polyjet modeling technique.

Here are the top applications of 3D multi jet fusion in India in 2021:

 Higher precision – This technique allows you to build models that have < 0.1 mm of
tolerance. This technology is also less vulnerable to shrinkage and warping as compared to
other additive manufacturing techniques.
 Best surface quality – This technique allows you to create models with layer-height as low as
16 – 32 µm, in the x, y and z directions with equal ease.
 Improved resolution – The droplets spewed by the nozzle are extremely fine and hence
create highly detailed components.

Advantages of Polyjet Modeling Technique

These are the express advantages offered by Polyjet Modeling technique, as opposed to
conventional manufacturing techniques:

 Extremely accurate and highly defined models

 Provides completely smooth, finished surface with fine layer lines removed
 Can combine with different materials to make components from composite materials

Conclusion

Using 3D multi jet fusion in India, it is now possible to design and develop highly complex and
accurate geometric shapes in the most efficient and affordable way.
