The significance are to acknowledge the key players and their contributions, and to

know the story behind significant electronic devices and its role in influencing
and improving the world of electronics. Although we use a lot of electronic devices
in our daily lives we usually don't acknowledge the people who laid foundation of
those electronic devices. Without them and their contributions to the world of
electronics we might not have modern electronic devices that we use daily to make
our life easier. Those significant contributions and the story behind their
brilliant inventions greatly helped and motivated inventors and scientists to
innovate and develop electronic devices even further.

As an engineering student specifically a mechanical student, it is important to

study basic electronics because eventually in the future I will need this knowledge
when dealing with electronic equipment or devices associated with mechanical
equipment. When designing power-producing machines, electric generators, engines,
steam and gas turbines, I have to incorporate the electrical and electronic
components in my design. It is also significant when collaborating with electrical
and electronics engineers because I have a knowledge on the fundamentals of
electronics.

I therefore conclude that this exercise made me acknowledge the key players in the
field of electronics and their significant contributions which laid foundation for
the electronic devices that I used in my everyday life. This exercise also helped
me understand how significant this subject is to my field of work in the future
because I thought it's not as important as my major subjects such as
thermodynamics. Now that I know its importance I will make sure that I can fully
understand this subject and retain the knowledge that I will learn so that it can
help me in the near future.
