While reading Gilgamesh we consider him the hero and that he is constantly on the side of

justice, however after reading Euthyphro and going a better understanding of piety,2 we start to

consider whether he truly was the hero and pursuing justice through our understanding of piety

and with what we know from Gilgamesh, we would like to debate that he is not a hero but a

villain.

“His tyranny and unjust acts towards his people”

He does whatever he wants takes a son from his father and crushes him, takes a girl from her
mother and uses her, the warrior’s daughter, the young man’s bride, he uses her, no one dares to
oppose him.
