Definitions of each essay'

Narrative: describe a number of events in
chronological order.
Discussion: look at the points of something,
then examine the points against it, finally
write a conclusion in which you may give
your opinion.
Process description: break down process
into stages and describe each stage in the
order that it occurs.
Cause and effect: describe the reasons of
something, then look at the effects it has
Illustration: list a series of points and give
examples of each
Definition: explain what something means
by putting it into a recognizable category
and giving examples.
Static description: describe something by
giving a general overview and illustrating it
with specific examples
Comparison: examine the similarities and
differences between two or more things.
