Findings The following was noted at the time of inspection: * The crane supports were found to have areas of corrosion with depths of up to 4.0mm and isolated areas of through wall corrosion. a eT * Severe corrosion was noted on plates at wheel housing. Page 1* Crevice corrosion was evident at the joints and locking pins. * Active scale and corrosion was noted at split pins, supports, bolts and attachments. Page 2© Moderate to severe corrosion was noted at the cat ladder cage, supports and bolts. wae i * Moderate to severe corrosion was noted at the motor support I-Beam, cross bracing and motor cover. * Active corrosion and scale was visible on the wind sock assembly and support. * Grating was found to be uneven and not securely attached in some areas. The grating revealed slight to moderate corrosion in scattered areas and more severe corrosion in other isolated areas. Page 3‘+ Severe corrosion was visible on the cross bracing and supports underneath the tread plate and gratings. Page 4* The safety hand-rails were found to have slight to severe corrosion in scattered areas. One stanchion not secured to the structure. * Random thickness measurements were carried out — Refer to attached sketch. * Magnetic Particle Inspection was carried out at random areas — No areas of concern were noted. Recommendations * It is recommended that the affected areas be de-scaled and re-inspected. * A variation of lace welding, patch plating and sectional replacements shall be required, subject to assessment and approval of a structural engineer.
