Buying behaviors nowadays of students

Despite the industry being tricky and having products that come in sizes that may vary
from store to store, fashion like clothes, shoes, skincare product… remains the king of
online shopping (92,7% of BIFA 7 students buy clothes and 70,9% of them buy skincare
product). Previously, it was difficult for somebody to risk buying a shirt, pants, or a jacket
without knowing for sure if it was going to fit well. Nowadays returns are free in almost
all shops and you can try something on at home, without lines and knowing that you can
return it at any time. Second is order food (55,5% of BIFA 7 students), because you can
choose which food you can eat easier and it maybe cheaper. Also, you can avoid COVID-
19 pandemic spread. Third is book (45,5% of BIFA 7 students), because you can choose
which kind of book you want easier, and you do not want to waste time to bookstore near
you and you can’t find the book you need. Other things like electronic device, gear,
phone, home decoration is not usually buying online.
According to the pie chart, approximately a half of BIFA students spend less than
500000VND on online shopping per month. Because clothes, shoes, skincare product,
food are very cheap; also, students do not have much money and they need to spend for
something else, so they do not have to spend much on online shopping. But some students
buy expensive things on the internet like gear, electronic device, … they need to spend
much money on online shopping (43,6% of BIFA 7 students spend more than
500000VND on online shopping)

According to the pie chart, approximately a half of students choose online payment.
(54,5% of students), because online payment is very convenient for ECommercial. Also,
there are higher payment security, low risk of theft and contactless because of COVID=19
pandemic. A half of students choose to pay cash, because maybe they do not have a bank
account or no transaction fees.

3. Challenging

First thing that most of students aware is quality of product when you buy stuff online.
Online shopping can scam your money because they can ship poor product or another
product for you. When purchasing a product from online retail, it is best to look at
reviews from past buyers. These reviews will give you an idea of the quality of
products and services offered by the seller. Most reviews also help you know if the
seller is credible or not.
Second is shipping expenses, poor logistic, long delivery, lack of products. Because of
shipping very far, it gets high shipping costs, unexpected international fees, shipping
delays, packing problems like damaged or lost.
Third is insecurity for customers when shopping online. Because they are afraid of
low-quality, wrong, or missing product, long-time shipping, unexpected cost when
shipping, high-risk of scamming.
Fourth is lack of payment. This is another common problem when shopping online. A
lot of times, they do not know how to make the payment if the debit cards they use are
not available as an option. Customers are also often stuck with the payment options
when Cash on Delivery is not available. With online frauds picking up steam, most
customers prefer paying cash on delivery as they are skeptical about sharing their card
details. This is a common complaint by many customers these days. They do not have
many payment methods that they can use and trust.
Fifth is poor customers’ service. This is the main problem customers face when
shopping online. When they want to ask more information about the product to the
seller, they get too slow reply. This situation is similar for customers who have
purchased and are having questions or problems with the product. 

IV. Conclusion
Both methods of shopping are full of differences and similarities that make them
unique in some approach. Traditional shopping allows for inclusion of the five senses,
quick and safe transactions, and a more formal experience that includes the customer;
whereas Internet shopping is convenient and easy, provides increased option, and
helps to save money. Due to the variation in execution, both methods have an
appropriate time and place to occur, yet in the end, internet shopping and formal
shopping are interchangeable, despite the discrepancies.
