Summary of PTSD article

The article, Understanding PTSD —signs and symptoms relates to chapter 13, more specifically it
covers Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD for short. The article then explains that PTSD is a mental
health condition caused by events that are traumatizing to the victim. It then goes on to list the most
common symptoms such as sadness, guilt, Anger nightmares of the traumatizing event. Sometimes
people will also avoid answering questions to avoid reliving the event.

Most people who suffer from PTSD are people who serve in the military, surprisingly to me,
people who had little education or support from their family, minorities, women and people who had
sudden changes in their lives that cause stress. Unfortunately, PTSDs can’t be cured with medicine; they
will always be there for the victim. However you can receive help for dealing with the event, such a
psychological therapy, yoga, acupuncture and meditation. What I didn’t know before I read this article
was that there was a day dedicated to PTSDs, that there were other options to help with a PTSD besides
psychological therapy and other people besides people with life threatening careers suffered from
PTSDs.
